Comments about Vic Firth American Classic Drumsticks:

I'm an experienced musician, but new at drums. These sticks are giving me the best responsiveness, bounce, and feel I've gotten in a stick so far. They also pull good tones out of both my modest drums and cheap cymbals, which kind of amazes me! I've been impatient to make progress, and these sticks are starting to make it MUCH easier!

For a similar stick with a more aggressive tone I like the wooden tipped Steve Gadd sticks. I also like the old style Dave Weckls.

While the same shape, the maple in the SD4's makes them feel much different from the HD4s.

        best stick i've used, period.

Comments about Vic Firth American Classic Drumsticks:

I've been using this stick (and the SD4 combo) for the past 7 years, mainly playing rock, blues, jazz, etc- its the best stick for lighter stuff, light enough in weight to work fast but keep volume down. for higher volumes it works great as well, but most sticks do-I still have some that are about 4-5 years old, they never break, but they do wear out after a year or two. i actually like the sound they have after a few years. perfect jazz stick. good for other stuff too. Possibly the best stick i've ever used in my 16 years of playing, definitely the most versatile.i've used comparable Zildjians and Promarks, but this is the best combination of size and weight and tip i've come across.

        Bad Sticks

Comments about Vic Firth American Classic Drumsticks:

These drumsticks are good for the price but horrible in quality. I've bought 3 pairs of these drumsticks about a month and a half ago and I used each pair for a week and now they are all broken. I will never buy these sticks ever again and I'm switching to aluminum sticks, they cost a lot buy are worth it.

        The overall best stick

        By Tamarocker2468

Comments about Vic Firth American Classic Drumsticks:

These are not perfect, but after trying every brand and size I could get a hold of over the course of many years I can say these are the best. The tear drop tip provides maximum contact with the head with minimal effort. The weight of the wood is exactly what it needs to be. The wood quality is good, but not great. When a stick breaks it tends to be the tip, and if not, a complete break down the body, which shouldnt happen if the wood was cut problem I have is that they chip more so than other sticks. Especially if you are a crazy hitter with a lot of cymbal work these would chip down to a pulp within a few days of playing.
