Comments about Vic Firth American Custom SD9 Driver Drumsticks:

I've contacted Vic Firth via both customer service email, and Facebook ... so far, no response. I love VF sticks, and especially the SD9 Driver, BUT nylon tip option is way to go ... and discounted 4-packs. Fast, well-balanced stick ... can jazz ride all night long.

    The perfect balance

Comments about Vic Firth American Custom SD9 Driver Drumsticks:

I have played for almost 25 years, and I have tried a lot of different sticks over the years. I have a box full of old, dead sticks that served me well but that just didn't make the grade. I started with Vic Firth sticks in high school and college, played Promark 707's and 808's for a few years, Vater Fusions and 5A's for the longest time, and made the switch back to Vic Firth about 2 years ago. I went with the 5A's in hickory, the most "standard" stick you can get, and while I loved the feel of them, there was something just not right. The weight was good, but I missed the feel of a heavier stick. I wanted to try a larger stick but in maple so I could get the feel of a large stick, but retain the speed of a lighter stick. The SD9 Driver is the perfect combination of weight, balance, speed and the large oval tip makes everything sound bigger and beefier that an acorn or ball tip, without having to hit very hard.
Excellent quality, which is what Vic Firth is known for. I've never bought a pair of Vic's that wasn't perfectly straight.
I love these sticks, and I wish Vic Firth would sell them in packs of 4 or 12 like some of their other lines. Other than that, the price is inline with other quality stick brands and models.

    Sd9 drivers

    By Roger Bally

    from Trinidad, West Indies!

Comments about Vic Firth American Custom SD9 Driver Drumsticks:

I have been playing drums about 4-5 years now, I have used a lot of different sticks, until recently I had some Sd9s given to me, and that was the best gift I ever got man!! wow!! As a gospel drummer, you know how you have to play for hours, well this stick is light on the hands, but very nice and full, and gives you that warm sound you desire, its very nice on the hi-hats, and gives you a nice crecendo on the cymbals, and smoothe going on the ride, you really Just fly with these sticks man, I really do love them. However they do break easily well depending on what genre you play...but other than that its the best stick I have used, and will keep using unless i find somthing better...lol..its nicely balanced, nice grip, and it just flows with you!! Try them out today!!!

    Light and Powerful

    By SANDS

Comments about Vic Firth American Custom SD9 Driver Drumsticks:

I love the weight and balance point of these sticks. They are very light compared to most this size. The length makes them powerful if need be. The only thing that keeps me from giving them a perfect rating is the tips. They break off faster than most. I continue to use them anyway because to me the goods outweigh the bads.

    heavy to light

    By SANDS

    from st. louis, mo

Comments about Vic Firth American Custom SD9 Driver Drumsticks:

you can really get soft to loud with these sticks, the dynamics are great. For a heavy hitter they are great. I tend to break the tips off and they ding up from the rim pretty quick, but the goods outweigh the bads. If I could change one thing about them it would be the sanding and finish, it's a little on the slick side for my taste.

    SIMPLY THE BEST !!!

    By schmitty48

    from California

Comments about Vic Firth American Custom SD9 Driver Drumsticks:

Simply the best all around stick ever! Great for any music venue from lighter styles to full-blown Concert Rock. I've been using this stick for many years. I've tried other sticks, but always came back to the trusty SD9s. This stick just delivers no matter what. The wood tip really makes the cymbals sing, but since it is wood, it will eventually wear out and that bright cymbal sound will go bye bye. I guess you can't have everything.

    Great for heavy hitters!

    By Cameron Fischer

    from Fort Collins, CO

Comments about Vic Firth American Custom SD9 Driver Drumsticks:

Don't go by the item's description as being best suited for jazz, these sticks scream rock! I'm 18 right now but I currently have at least 8 or 9 of those years under my belt for drumming. I've tried too many sticks to count from rediculously huge "rock" sticks all the way down to 7AN's and repeatedly I've come back to these. The description is true, they are lightweight, but they are beefy as well. That's the selling point for me because these things won't weigh you down, but they still deliver a ton of attack and projection. Since they are lighter weight I've noticed it's easier to wear them down, but I honestly don't care, they are still worth it!

    Vic Farth SD9

    By drumma4life

    from Selah, WA

Comments about Vic Firth American Custom SD9 Driver Drumsticks:

I have been drumming for about 3 years now, and usually stuck with the rock hickory 5Bs(Durability and heavy sound for rock)until I decided to try these last week. They have the nice comfortable (and loud) feel of a 5B rock hickory but with reduced weight for speed. I would highly suggest these to any metal/rock drummers looking for a loud stick that still gets it done fast.

    eddie the jazz kid

    By Anonymous

Comments about Vic Firth American Custom SD9 Driver Drumsticks:

I am 17 years old I have been playing these sticks for three years. I plan on playing them for another three years and then some. I have tried many sticks over the years but I could never find that stick to give me that perfect relaxed fealing when I played on the ride until I played these. I may be a kid but I know my sticks if you want a great jazz stick then you gotta get these.
