I'd always loved the taper of a 5B, but the size of a 5A, and apparently, the drumming genius of the incredible Carter Beauford felt the same way. The dip is good for grip in climate controlled venues, but causes the stick to be extra slippery in an outdoor summer show, and usually leads to speed loss and blisters from over gripping. I took another page from Carter's playbook and play with a pair of golf gloves outdoors, so I don't launch 'em.

I love Carter, and I love his new sticks. the yellow dip doesnt really improve my grip, more decreases grip when my hands get sweaty haha but the sticks are pretty heavy, so you get lots of power. they sound great on the ride and hats, and the taper is very durable - I wish i could say the same about the tip. I loved the sticks for about a month, and used them for probably like 10-20 minutes a day (I change sticks for different music) and recently, the tip got a chip in it, which later led to it splitting in half. probably some of the best sticks ive owned, and i bet they were a defective pair i got, but i'll continue to buy them even if the rest do the same. I definitely reccommend these to anyone who needs some heavy sticks.
