Comments about Vic Firth Rute 505:
I played in the tinyest tin can last night with a metal roof and these were awesome volume level i play hard and the people all commented on how i blended in with the band instead of overpowering them like every other drummer that played their does. i did put some tape to extend the handle to add some stiffness to them. if i changed how they were made i would use wooden handles becouse thats my preferance but thats just me.if u want volume help and not breakin like dowels get these and b open minded about getting the feel u want in stiffness do more than just move the rubber band otherwise they will flex (bend) alot and not feel like a stick.

Comments about Vic Firth Rute 505:
The 505s are my favorite brush/stick of all that are available. They provide excellent definition in softer circumstances. They get great sounds from drums and cymbals alike.
If you have trained your hands to play rudimentally without complete dependence on bounce, you can show off your technique using these. When you do that, it really pleases your audience!
When I decide to play at home late at night they are great tools to play on cymbals. Beautiful sound!
Comments about Vic Firth Rute 505:
They are useles to me when I compare them to the Rute 303, Rute 202, and Regal Tip Blastick.
Vic Firth produces a lot of excellent products but this one does not work for me. It might work for some of you depending on what your technical style is. With that in mind my biggest complaint about the Rute 505 is when you are holding them they are floppy in your hand. That takes any bounce a drummer needs in the hand for some techniques.
I bought these because I really like the Rute 303 and some of the reviews I read sounded like the Rutue 505 is the same as the 303 with the advantage of not having to contend with breakage of the small wood dowels. They are two completely different bursh/sticks. A far better choice as an option to the Rute 303 would be Regal Tips Blastick. They are durable and have a solid wooden handle but the rods are made from a stiff plastic bristle. The disadvantage of the Blastick is you will not get the a real crisp cymbal sound but it is a better all around sound than the Rute 505
All of Vic Firth products are manufactured with high qualify standards.
If a product does not perform to ones expectations they are worthless. They may be high qualify but I can't find any positive reason to use them with given my current arsanel of sticks, brushes, mallets, and doweled sticks.
Comments about Vic Firth Rute 505:
Love these. If you are looking for something that is right between brushes and rods (as far as volume and feel goes) these are it. They hold up pretty nice too (better than rods).
Comments about Vic Firth Rute 505:
I got these to try because I was tired of the way the wooded rods on other products would break so easy. I am not disappointed by the 505s. It has the same feel as the wooded rods sticks, but with the adjustable ring I use them as a stick or a brush for any effect I like. I also love the rubber handles that I occasionaly use to do soft buildup rolls on my cymbals.
Comments about Vic Firth Rute 505:
If you are looking for a very quiet, durable stick with resonable rebound, look no further. I have used many rodded sticks made of wood, such as Hot rods, and Lightning Rods developed by Vic Firth. They are quiet, but I needed something more durable. Since the Rute 505's are made out of plastic, they are far more durable then the wooden rod sticks which splinter and wear out far to easily. The Rute 505's have slighly less rebound then Hot Rods. However, since they cost the same as the wooden rod sticks manufactured by Vic Firth and competitors, they are a better investment 'cause they last far longer. Over all, the Rute 505's are a excellent choice if very quiet volumes on an acoustic drumset is required, without sacrificing speed and energy.
Comments about Vic Firth Rute 505:
I like this Rute a lot for Country music. Gives a kind of a dull sound on snare and cymbals. Helps make a new trap set (which is crisp) sound like an older set. Play classic Country (Hank Williams type stuff) and this sick gives a good sound for that kind of music. Good for train songs too!
