      Vic Firth

The German word "Rute" means "branches tied together." This Rute is a bundle of premium birch dowels, secured in a birch drumstick handle. The handle provides a natural feel and can also be used for back beats, cross rim work, and intricate patterns on the cymbal bell. A movable band adjusts the effect from crisp to splashy.

      Very flimsy

      By 3DaysTorn_Drummer

      from Elkton, MD

Comments about Vic Firth Rute Brushes:

I bought these to give them a try because I'd never used adjustable sticks before. I'm not happy with them to say the least... The adjustable sliding thing doesn't stay put while you're playing. It slides up and down the sticks, making your sound extremely inconsistent. While tapping the ride cymbal, I can actually feel them flexing...and the handle is extremely slippery making them difficult to hold on to. Overall, it's a very uncomfortable stick to use and I was not happy considering these are Vic Firth sticks. If you are looking for a rute-like stick, do yourself a favor and buy the Pro-Mark Hot Rod sticks. They are MUCH more durable. I've had one pair for almost a year and they're just now reaching the point where I had to replace them..and I play HARD with them and they hold up great. I used these Vic Firth sticks for ONE practice and they started breaking.

Couldn't have Sunday without these brushes!

      By MaxTheDork

      from Pitman, NJ

Comments about Vic Firth Rute Brushes:

The church where I play on Sundays doesn't mic my drums and the sound really carries, so I needed an alternative to standard sticks or I would wash everyone out. Plastic brushes weren't loud enough and wire brushes didn't sound like sticks. I bought a pair of the Vic Firth Rutes and I've not been disappointed since. I can control the "hardness" of the brushes with the movable band (I even play the cymbals with the band for a softer impact and a different sound), so I get a lot of different textures out of the brushes. I can play fairly hard and not drown out the rest of the band and that's pretty much exactly what I was looking for. Turn the left one around for excellent cross-stick sound. I've been playing with the same pair all year and I'm only just now buying another pair to replace those, although honestly I can probably get a few more months out of them. I play every week exclusively with the Rutes so I'd have to say they're durable, they sound great, and they are an excellent value.

      Great sticks for quite songs

      By DrummerGuy-v-ZpL

Comments about Vic Firth Rute Brushes:

These sticks are great for soft playing. I do not suggest crashing with these because they are fragile. Overall great value.

      They snapped like twigs

      By Wilbur

      from Minnesota

Comments about Vic Firth Rute Brushes:

I was playing at church in a smaller chapel, so I bought these sticks for that reason. They broke apart within the second song. Yet another reason to not buy Vic Firth.
