I really like playing this unit, but don't hit it very hard and don't use anything bigger than a 7A stick or it won't last long. The rubber foam pieces underneath the pads are are connected to them with the tiniest cheapest little "c" claps you ever saw. Apparently a 1/2 cent bolt was was just way too expensive for the Yamaha boys. So you can expect the pad to lose its cushion within a month or two and then the soldering on the piezo sensor breaks shortly after that. Truly cheap manufacturing at its zenith.
This device is useful and inexpensive. However, I have some double triggering and ghost riggering problems with it sometimes. I use it for triggering splash cymbal sounds on my Roland kit. Working with the sensitivity and threshold levels on my controller improved the devices over all performance but didn't eliminate the internal ghost triggering of the dual pads on the unit. I got around the problem by putting to similar instruments on the device so if it fires off a ghost it doesn't matter. Often I have it with two different pitched splashes or cowbells, bogos ect... I would buy it again if it broke.
