Comments about Yamaha Brass Nouveau Snare:
I bought the 14 x 5.5 and find its tones to be great for just about everything I play. It really shines in the mid range tunings where the brass really barks. Cross sticking sounds pleasant. I would recommend changing the stock heads out right off, even though they aren't too bad. I really dig playing this drum.
Comments about Yamaha Brass Nouveau Snare:
Well..I recently bought the 13x6.5 version and I love it. Before this I was using a DW 14x5 Brass snare and I would much rather have the Yamaha. The sound is absolutely perfect for me, I play a mixture of hardcore/metal and this thing is killer. I can tune it to a medium-high pitch, yet it still sounds huge and sustains its strength. I've got a Remo Powerstroke 3 on the batter and a Remo Emperor snare underside and this thing is mind blowing. The features are great too. I love the lugs and snare strainer, makes changing drum heads a breeze. The stock snares are actually pretty good, over all an outstanding drum for the cost. I highly recommend for a medium-high level drummer.
Comments about Yamaha Brass Nouveau Snare:
Just recieved my new YAMAHA BRASS SNARE it is 13"x6.5". I wanted the 14"x7" but it has been discontinued, so i got this one instead, good for me it was the last one available, it arrived in 2 days from Musicians Friend. I was very pleased with its looks it is beautiful! And when i started to tune it well, WOW!!! THATS WHAT IM TALK'N BOUT! Every tension setting was usable once i got it up to the tensioning i prefer wich is medium tight on batter and just a little looser on snare side i could not stop playing this drum!!! rim clicks have such a nice click full of body, rim shots are very powerful the ring from this brass shell is beatiful, i played all over the head and around the rim every thing i did sounded great, very mucical snare, possibly one of the most musical i've played! I also own a pearl chad smith steel snare,a pearl 13"x3" maple piccalo, and pork pie vented little squeler, my new yamaha brass is not going any where i love it. havent played it with my kit yet but am very confident it will be great!
Comments about Yamaha Brass Nouveau Snare:
I have this snare in 14x7 and 14x51/2. I use these snares with my Yamaha Maple Custom Absolute Blue sparkles. I like the 7" for it's depth. I also put a larger set of snare wires on it too. My other snares are a Ludwig Superphonic snare for my Amber vistalite and the nice wooden maple snare that came with my Sparkle yamaha,(very warm crack),... and I have a Pearl Ian Paice signature snare that is very well also. But these Brass Yamaha Snares are something else! Simply can't be beat. Real warm and full of tone!
Comments about Yamaha Brass Nouveau Snare:
I own both 7x14 and 6.5x13 versions of this snare drum and they're exceptional. Gives you all the goodness of brass and a variety of sounds. For me it's the most versatile snare drum combination. I own other snares but these are my two go-to models. The only thing I've done is put Evans Genera Dry Batters on them to dry the tone slightly (to give em a nice crack) and put on some Puresound Twisted Series Snare Wires. The hoops, strainer, and hardware that come on these drums is second to none. I highly recommend these snares to anyone regardless of style. I play everything and they work for everything from driving rock to jazz kit playing all the way to orchestral snare drumming. For the price you will have a hard time doing better, especially considering they are near perfect out of the box, minus tuning.
