The brilliant metal projection is balanced by the warm, full tone of copper.

The Yamaha Copper Nouveau Snare Drum cuts through loud music yet has a warmer tone than other metal shells. It also has enhanced low frequencies for darker tones that work well in just about all musical situations. The quick-release low-contact Nouveau lugs allow the shell to vibrate for a more resonant drum and wide dynamic range. They also allow much quicker head changes because the tension rods don't have to be removed to take off the hoop.

A detachable strainer and butt allow you to remove the snare wires for snare-side head changes and reattach them quickly with a single drum key screw. A tension indicator lets you easily reset your snares to their former tension.

      2.3mm Dyna Hoop
The 2.3mm thick triple flange Dyna Hoops are strong, giving you precise tuning while allowing the drum to open up.

A superior Yamaha copper snare with superb low-end definition for enhanced warmth! Order yours today!

Comments about Yamaha Copper Nouveau Snare:

I love this snare. I have 2 14x6.5" I do pretty good bit of session work and didn't want to have to change the tuning. One is tuned to medium-low pitch. its fat and warm but still has good crack and is sensitive. The second is tuned medium-high. It's loud and cuts through the mix well but still has a thick tone. I have no complaints about the drum.
Basically, if you know how to tune drums decent its hard to make this drum sound bad.
I did change the top head immediately after I opened it. I'm not a big fan of Remo heads so I threw an Evans EC1 on.

          My #1 snare

          By weevilboy

Comments about Yamaha Copper Nouveau Snare:

I've had this drum for about six months now and it is the best I've ever owned. If you're looking for fully body and low-end punch, mixed with top-side crack and sensitivity, this snare drum is for you. To this point I've had no problems with the strainer as described below (fingers crossed!). Highly recommended snare drum.

          Great drum, bad strainer design

          By UM1348

Comments about Yamaha Copper Nouveau Snare:

I have had 3 Yamaha snares brought to me for repair, all for the same problem. The drum itself sounds great, but the knucklehead who thought it a good idea to attach a strainer to the drum with a piece of plastic should be fired. There is no excuse for a strainer to fall off a snare drum in the middle of a gig. Bad design; I expect better from Yamaha.

          Wonderfully Dynamic

          By Satisfied

Comments about Yamaha Copper Nouveau Snare:

This snare is easy to tune, tunes up and down with great variation, sounds wonderful with limited overtones, and is superbly crafted. This beats the black beauty hands down and has a warm sound that resembles a maple snare with the power and dynamics of a metal.

Comments about Yamaha Copper Nouveau Snare:

I just purchased this snare and it is incredible. It has a first place tie with my ludwig black beauty. What is great about the Yamaha Copper Shell is that you can crank the head and back of a few turns and it sounds great. Very versatile.

          Great Sounding Snare

          By Mitch VanDenBerghe

          from Rochester NY

Comments about Yamaha Copper Nouveau Snare:

I just used this snare yesterday for recording with my band, Red Letter Statement. It's a great sounding snare. The one I used is actually the same one Aaron Gillespie used on "The Almost" CD, "Southern Weather." We recorded with Jesse Sprinkle, and when he was out in Seatle with Dead Poetic, he left the snare in his brother Aaron's studio, and while it was their, Aaron Gillespie used it. It is a fantastic sounding snare. It really gave our C.D. a powerful sound, along with Jesse's DW bass drum and Boom Theory toms. I would recomend this snare to anyone and plan on purchasing one for myself.

          A great explosive snare drum

          By Texas Big Beat

          from Austin, TX

Comments about Yamaha Copper Nouveau Snare:

I own this snare in the 6.5 x 14 model. First, let me say I don't like steel shell snare drums in general. To me, they sound too cold, bright and brittle. Most of my snare drums are wood shell. And for a long time I've been biased against *any* sort of metal shell snare drum. Brass, copper, bronze, whatever, if it was metal, I was predisposed against it. For me this drum has removed that bias. This Yamaha copper shell has a warm, fat, explosive tone that hits you in the chest (not the head) like a good snare drum should. It's one of those drums that when you hit it, it feels so pleasing that you smile, and say "oh man, that sounds good". And hit it again. It doesn't have any metallic, clangy timbre to it at all. I love this drum. So much in fact, that I've given serious thought to buying it in the 5.5x14 model, too. And I've never bought anything with the Yamaha brand that wasn't excellent quality.

          A beautiful snare drum

          By bsritter

          from KC, MO

Comments about Yamaha Copper Nouveau Snare:

I just bought this snare drum in the 14" x 5.5" configuration. It's replacing my trustly old Ludwig Acrolite as my main snare. Sonically, the characteristics of copper aren't all that dissimilar from aluminum. It has a very dark tone. I played this drum side by side with a brass snare and they were at complete opposite ends of the spectrum. This drum is very sensitive and has a full, fat sound when struck in the center. It handles rimshots well, and has a surprising amount of overtones. (Which I like) I primarly play rock music, but this drum could be used for just about any music, even jazz. (Just ask Roy Haynes.)Yamaha products that are made in Japan are usually of the highest quality and this drum is no different. It features the innovative nouveau lugs, and the throw-off is as smooth as can be. Overally, this drum just feels and looks sturdy, and the sound will not disappoint.
