OVERVIEW

Check out Yamaha's DTX400 series of electronic drum kits!

The DTX400 series electronic drums bring Yamaha quality and technology to a new level of affordability. The DTX450K is powered by the DTX400 module that features 169 professional acoustic drum and percussion sounds with Accent Articulation for dynamic expression. Play along to 10 songs and customize 10 kits to match your style. Or practice with interactive training functions featuring Voice Guidance.

The pads feature oversized 10" ride, hi-hat and crash cymbals, while the 7" drum pads have been redesigned for greater playability, authenticity and durability. The TP70S snare pad is a 3-zone snare pad for head, rim-shot and side-stick effects. As far as hardware goes, the DTX450K includes a Yamaha FP6110 belt-drive bass drum pedal and a KP65 kick pad that provide an authentic kick drum feel. The remote HH65 hi-hat controller pedal allows "half-open" hi-hat sounds for expression usually found on much higher priced kits. A longer floor tom bar (PCY90AT) enables the addition of an extra cymbal, while chrome hardware offers a cleaner, professional look. The steel rack delivers a solid framework for your playing experience.

Comments about Yamaha DTX450K Electronic Drum Set:

Not the quickest and easiest assembly but once it is set up it is sturdy and balanced. Love the 3 zone snare and responsive drum heads. At 1st I was disappointed by the lack of an LCD display but you get used to it quickly with all the buttons and a pretty intuitive layout. Overall a really good value. You won't be using this at a professional gig but it's great for rehearsals, smaller gigs atc.

Comments about Yamaha DTX450K Electronic Drum Set:

I received this for a gift and as much as I want to appreciate it for that reason I would not want anyone else to be "stuck" buying this.

Take the time to look at the other manufactures offerings in the same price range.

        My issues:
        1. Hi-hat fixed to the snare. This cause issues. I guess if you like your hi-hat right over your snare then it will be a none issue but it just feels cramped to me. Also this causes harder hits on the high hat to bleed into the snare sensor.

        2. Lack of configuration/placement. This kit really restricts you. Like I said, Hi-hat is locked on to the snare mount. Crash and Ride are fixed with limited height adjustment. and Toms have very limited adjustment.

        4. Crash/Ride are single triggers so forget about choking.

        3. The built in sounds are not good. I have this kit connected to my PC as a MIDI device playing through a DAW with VSTs. Its that bad.

Im sure there are more issues as Im really a beginner.

        Pros - it works?

Comments about Yamaha DTX450K Electronic Drum Set:

The Yamaha kit has lots of adjustable sound elements and comes with good documentation, and I found it quick and easy to learn. The set is very light and easy to move around. Assembly was easy. One slight drawback is that positioning the pads is limited to the physical extent of the frame pieces(you can't move the snare pad very far from the hi-hat pad, for example). That takes a little getting used to, to hit the pads right. The sounds of the pads are great. The metronome is very useful, for a click track.

Comments about Yamaha DTX450K Electronic Drum Set:

I decided to change from acoustic to electronic drums because of my age and all the stuff you have to lug around to gigs with an acoustic set. At 1st I was thrown off by the size of the pads but after sitting down and playing them I was really suprised. This is a great set for any venue as long as you have the proper amplification.I use a Peavey 2800 power amp with a graphic and effects.I would recommend this series to anyone who wants to make the switch.

Comments about Yamaha DTX450K Electronic Drum Set:

I love this kit so much! It's fun to play and practice on and has wonderful sound, I can't even hear the pads. The only problem is the construction. I find myself usually adjusting the snare because it keeps sliding down, same with the hihat. The cymbals aren't much of a problem, the wing nuts keep getting loosened(I have them loose already for better playablity). Overall, it's a great kit.
