A complete 5-piece electronic kit packed with features at a price that'll allow you to explore electronic drumming without the steep price tag of most kits!

The Yamaha DTXPLORER is an electronic drum set that brings Yamaha's renowned electronic drum technology within reach of the beginner, hobbyist, and educator. The 5-piece electronic drum kit features high-impact single-zone rubber pads with natural feel and rebound, a kick pedal, hi-hat controller module, rack, and coded cabling for easy setup.

At the heart of the DTXPLORER is its compact trigger module, with a 16-bit/32-note polyphony tone generator that produces amazingly realistic, physically modeled voices. Choose from 214 drum and percussion sounds, 22 preset songs, and 32 preset drum kits covering rock, funk, jazz, reggae, and Latin styles. An array of onboard digital effects let you tweak your sound to your liking. Create and store up to 10 custom kits. The module also includes the Groove Check practice feature, a multifunction metronome, backlit LCD display, and simple plug-and-play connections. Auxiliary and MIDI inputs expand the kit's versatility, allowing you to connect to a PC or other device. The headphone output allows quiet practice.

32 Factory Kits, 10 User Kits, 214 Voices
The 32 factory-programmed kits give you a wide variety of kits that can be used in almost any musical situation. The 10 user kits allow you to build custom kits using any of the 214 voices for your particular needs as a musician.

    Groove Check with Rhythm Gate

The DTXPL module has Yamaha's popular Groove Check function, but takes it to the next level as a learning tool. You can engage the Rhythm Gate so that when you play out of time the module will mute the drums until you get back in time with the click.

    Multi-zone Inputs
The snare input will accept a three-zone pad (not included) giving you the head, rim shot, and cross stick sounds. The cymbal inputs will accept dual zone cymbals and allow cymbal choking.

    Includes a Bass Drum Pedal
The DTXPL comes complete with an FP-6210 strap drive pedal so you don't have to purchase a pedal separately.

I have been playing drums since I was 4, and I had always used an acoustic kit. After a while, I wanted something that I could practice with more frequently, instead of being yelled upon constantly. So, eventually, I got this set. At first, the cymbals seem extremely crappy, but once you are actually playing, you do not even notice the perhaps "bad" quality of cymbals. They have one sensor, but they work really well for anything. The sounds are phenomenal. The rack that the kit is on is really sturdy. The pads sometimes, only SOMETIMES, make strange rattle noises. The trigger setup is very useful, and you can get some nice dynamics while playing. The module works good with the option of creating your own kits. This kit is very versitile.

    Two things:

    1) There is a jack on the back of the kick pad that allows you to add another bass pad (double bass) or any other pad.

    2) If you do not want to buy another kick pad, here is how you set up double bass on the module:

Select a kit, and then press the arrow button on the right. Step on the hihat pedal. When this happens, scroll till you see a letter "K". Then step on the bass drum pedal and see which bass it is (which bass sound) and match that to the hi hat pedal. Go through all of the different specifications (tune, reverb, etc.) and match the two sounds together. To see an example of this, go to the 7th kit, Vinyl Kit. Also, I should be posting a video on my YouTube on how to do this pretty soon. (youtube.com/camehmig)

    I reccomend this product highly.

This drumset is great for beginners or for Pros on a light budget.I use my set for practice and take it to small venues when there is no room for my acoustic set.I usually use the kick and toms and use my cymbals since the electronic cymbals dont really work that well playing live.I would reccomend this kit for all beginners if they are looking for a low priced electronic kit.If I had the cash I would invest in a little more expensive kit that would hold up while gigging.

This is the perfect set for all drummers, beginner to expert, who want a silent practice kit.  There are much more capable e-kits available (for much more $$$) if you are interested in taking your e-drums on stage or in the studio.  You could definitely record with these, but the real value for me is the ability to rock out at all hours of the day or night without bothering my neighbors or roommates.  Sure there are much better electronic drum sets out there, but this is perfect for practicing when I can't play my acoustic drums. Lots of fun sounds to work with, infinitely adjustable reverb and pitch on all sounds, and much more reliable than the Simmons kits I have played.  Get these, you won't regret it.

I bought them because I wanted to bang along with recorded music in the house. Never played before, but knew I always wanted to do it.Set up is easy and with some small adjustments, you are playing the drums. I love them. I won't be performing in public, but I can do some really good drumming and I am loving the learning process. I also purchased a small personal monitor so I could play out loud without using headphones. I am glad I bought both items.

If you're wanting this set for recording, you might as well download free drum software and compose it all electronically. If you want it for live performance, definitely go with a nice classic Tama or Pearl 5 piece acoustic set for the same price. The sound quality is awful whether recorded or amped, the bass drum and hi hat pedal will fail at one point or another all together, and you can use absolutely no force when feeling. (So if you like to rock out, tough luck.) Seriously. This is the only electronic drum set I've ever had, and ever will waste my money on getting.
