The Flying Dragon is the First Professional Pedal I've ever Bought. This pedal is so easy to work with Greasy Like Quickness! Regardless of spring tension, the board follows your foot excellently. Tried the Iron Cobra Power and Roller Glides. Feel like you need Popeye Forearm Calves to work them pedals. Even on Softer Spring Tensions. Although out of the two, the Roller Glide felt better to me. But the Flying Dragon smokes em both to me. I get no calf fatigues from it! Double Bass like strokes are acomplishable. I just wish it had a couple of things the Iron Cobra had; Bearings in Board Heel for Super Quiet Operation. A slight but small clanking sound resonates from the Foot Board for not having a tight fit on the heel hinge, but only heard when messing with the pedal alone, and when you play the whole set. Plus I also wish it had Markings on Beater Angle Adjuster to judge Beater Angle. Other than that, this Baby Is Smooth! I love the Uniform Cam and the solid feel of the Double Chain, but love the extra Flying Ability the strap gives. I'm still not sure which one I like the most. Presently the strap is still on and loving it! This pup lays down flat in 5 secs. for storage/transporting, board and beater angle adjusments are available, One Lever is used to Attach or Detach for Bass Hoop and its adjustable, Beater and Spring Tension have Locks, Extremely Attractive Yamaha Motorcycle Metal, Tool/Wrence is mounted on Base Plate, Base Plate is a lot wider than Foot Board for Stablity and has a slight angle in the middle in case you incounter an uneven surface, Base Plate has Glow In The Dark Stickers that look like Phoenix Wings for seeing your set on a Dark Stage, Gig Bag is no flimsy bag with a string but a nice soft Retangular Canvas Case with Shoulder Strap and Netted Velcro Compartments. I love Pearl Pedals Hands Down cause they feel so nice, but I get the feeling this Pedal will follow me when I'm ready to Upgrade from my Tama Custom Rockstars to a Maple Custom Pearl Set. I have absolutely no Regrets Buying This Pedal! Everyday, Im Either Looking at it because its so attractive, or Im Playing on it, enjoying my new found Drumming Possibilties!

I have used this pedal at my friend?s house and this pedal is not worth the money. This pedal offers no resistance even when the spring is tightened up. I would recommend the 9000 pedal because it has more features. Although it costs more it is worth the money. DW also just came out with the 8000. This pedal is between the 5000 and the 9000.

    unexpected purchase

    By Chris Terranova

I sat down on a throne and I was fiddling with some pedals and I came across this pedal and felt like I owned the world with this pedal. I can do anything I want with this pedal. It's light and can handle hard hits, soft hits, and it's very easy to control doubles. I do recommend a different beater though.

    played by accident!?

    By ludrickyamrick

I am a DW guy and own all DW equiptment including two DW pedals. A 5000 and 7000. Excellent pedals. Had a gig in Escondido where they had a backline so they insisted I don't bring my whole set. So I brought just my snare, cymbal, seat and pedal. When I got there I reconfigured the set & sat down with the pedal provided. It immediately felt comfortable and decided give it a shot in the first set. Wow! For the first time in years I felt I was in control of my band instead of the other way around. Everything my mind commanded the pedal followed. Double beats were near effortless and precise. I was less fatigued after the performance and came home after the New Years Eve gig and ordered one. I recommend this pedal hands down!

This pedal is by far the best, period. It has just the right amount of tension with lightening fast reaction. If you want to spend a lot for an over rated DW9000, be my guest. I had that pedal, and it is not as good as this yamaha. Pearls pedals are good, but I felt the tension was to much, even with the spring loose. Look no further, this yamaha is incredible, and worth every penny and more. It blows the doors off of pedals costing much more.

    Good Stuff

    By FunkyJunc

I bought this pedal with a new kit I purchased recently and was looking for something versatile. It is one of the best pedals I have played. The adjustments are so fine and inclusive that you can get a lazy swing jazz bop out of your kick, tighten it up and you're bangin out doubles on the kick head. Really great product. No squeks, lots of additional features etc. I highly recommend!

    woooooooooooow!

    By Drummerkid9000

I bought this product in August .I thought about changing it to a DW 5000 Delta pedal,(especially when it looks better).I found out that looks aren't everything. I asked the other drummers if they liked it and they said yes. They said that the spring is strong and they could get double beats off of it . I was upset that i Bought it from sam ash because it cost way more(149.95).Anyway, This is a Great Product To Buy.

    Best bang for the buck

    By Kckazdude

This is by far the best pedal your money can buy. I have a double bass kit and this pedal is primary next to a DW 5000. Both pedals are nice and smooth. I believe the Yamaha is slightly smoother in operation. Considering this is not as expensive as the DW I would say this pedal has the better value. The only complaints I have are that there are no marks for pedal adjustments and the hoop grip can be cumbersome to set up the first time.

    Very Smooooooth

This is one fine piece of craftsmenship. I like how eveything can be torn down for storage. The pedal is smooth and contains a strap, so for all you chain players, you can strap this one on and try different things. This is my first yamaha pedal, and I'm very pleased with it. My favorite thing about it is, that it glows :D go for it and buy it now before the price goes up, I know I waited to long.
