The Yamaha Gigmaker 5-Piece Drum Set is the perfect solution for beginning or intermediate drummers who want the quality of a Yamaha drum kit, without the hefty price tag.
Includes a 22"x 16" kick drum, 13" x 9-1/2" and 12"x 9" mounted toms, a 16" x 16" floor tom, and 14" x 5-1/2" wood snare. This set also includes a yamaha 600-series straight cymbal stand, snare stand, hi-hat stand, and an FP6110A single kick drum pedal.
The Gigmaker kick drum shell is 7 plies of basswood/poplar, and the floor toms, rack toms, and snare drum shells are 6 plies of basswood/poplar. Each drum is equipped with triple-flange, 1.6mm steel hoops and pro-quality lugs—eight on the kick and snare, six on the rack and floor toms. The springless design of these popular Yamaha drum lugs is structured to effectively eliminates unwanted noise.

overall i would rate it a 4/10. needs better quality drums and mounting system along with better tuning range. but with some cheap tonless heads like evans hydraulics you can get a good sound.
but like i said, get something more worth your money. like a tama imperialstar. very good tuning range and nice cutting punchy drums.
Good all around package, sturdy cymbal stands. pretty standard, no WOWing features.
OK, well first thing that really bothers me is the fact that Yamaha drills a whole in the drum shell to mount the toms. instead of disrupting the shell vibration with a metal rod you stick into the drum, they should try developing a system thats mounts the toms from the rim, or the lugs, or the screws even, not directly into the resonating shell.
Also, the snare drum is not very durable at all.. i mean i was experimenting with the tuning range of the snare drum and realized that it doesn't do well with the lower tuning ranges, medium sounded descent but wasn't too amazing. i usually love to tune my snares lower but since that wasnt working out for me, i found that the best sound i could get was from a higher tuning. so do not get me wrong. i know how tight is too tight. i barely tuned it high at all like just past medium, and the shell started to warp and cave inward on the top half... i played on it for 3 days in higher tuning and the shell did that. that prety much explains that quality.
the toms have limited tuning range and i know how to tune a drum, i'm designated tuner in my university percussion course for goodness sake. the drums detune withing a half an hour of tuning and constantly have to be re-cranked in the middle of playing.
the bass drum is descent and so is the floor tom. not complaints there. but the racktoms and snare drum were a HUGE disappointment. like seriouslyy, not tunable, no resonance (the toms constantly choke because of the pressure from the mounting system).
Not to mention the toms arent really punchy, i loo for more cut in my drums and they sound too deep and muffled. better if you want a more vintage sound.
i guess its fair for the price. still playable, but honestly, you might as well get a Pearl, Tama, Mapex or PDP for the same price because it will guarenteed sound better.
i won this kit in a $50 raffle with paiste Pst3s but i think its time to go back to my Tama Superstar Hyper-drives. Nothing sounds sexier then a 22x20 bass drum when your behind it.
