An Oak snare that delivers attack and articulation without losing response at low dynamic levels.

The heart of the Yamaha Loud Series snare drum is its 8-ply oak shell. This shell gives this snare drum the ability to cut through loud music without sounding brittle. Oak has a low fundamental and lots of warmth, but without losing the high-end frequencies.

This snare drum has a bearing edge cut of 45 for attack and articulation. The snare bed is cut 2.7mm deep for great snare response at all dynamic levels. The shell is drilled with eight air vents to dry the tone a bit, adding more clarity and control in situations where the drum is mic'd. Even though these drums can be loud, they do not have to be. They have great response even at low dynamic levels, making them suitable for players of all styles.

To make this drum look as striking as it sounds, Yamaha fitted it with 10-lug 2.3mm steel Dynahoops and 20 offset lugs, and the hardware is finished in a beautiful dark-chrome finish.

Comments about Yamaha Loud Series Snare Drum:

This thing is absolutely beautiful. I agree with others in that the pictures do this drum no justice. If you are looking for a loud and fat sounding drum that is playable at all dynamic levels, then this is the drum for you. I am using it in conjuction with a mapex saturn series set and it blends perfectly. The addition 7 extra vents makes this thing louder and dryer so it would do well mic'd on stage or in a studio. I replaced a DW collectors series black nickel of brass snare drum with this and I'm glad I did.

    I want one!

Comments about Yamaha Loud Series Snare Drum:

Good, what is the value of a killer sounding snare!
I went to the Percussive Arts Show in Indy last month it was a blast. I got a chance to hit many many cymbals and quite a few snares. Honestly, this Yamaha loud was the best sounding of the lot I found. Full, ballsy, loud it had a presence. The room was loud and reverby, but this had a most clear tone. I can't wait to get one. I am saving my pennies. I own a Craviotto, a Ludwig Super Sensitive, a big Pearl Vinnie Paul, but I can't wait to add this one. I play in a combo that can get loud and sometimes record in big rooms where the snare disappears. This would give me an option if the Craviotto and the Super Sensitive can't keep up.

Comments about Yamaha Loud Series Snare Drum:

I picked this up not too long ago, and let me tell you; this snare is amazing. First off, pictures do nothing for the finish. Simply beautiful. Oh and not to sounds great! The oak makes this thing cut. I've paired with an ST DRY at about medium tension. Just an overall great buy.
