A serious travel or youngster's set.
"Why don't you make a real drum kit for kids?" That request by Manu Katche caught Yamaha's designers' ears and got them designing this drum set. Compact, it is designed for smaller players, but it is far from being a toy. A 16" x 16" 9-ply bass drum with a 6-ply 13" x 12" floor tom, 10" x 7" tom, and 5" x 12" snare are all made of quality Philippine mahogany using Yamaha's original Air Seal System to produce shells that are perfectly round. Easily transportable, these drums deliver tone that is so unbelievably real you'll be tempted to use it on gigs of your own.
Floating Bass Drum System
Height adjustment on the pedal side of the bass drum is possible with the pipe post stabilizer. Use of this system ensures that the beater makes contact at the center of the head. The stabilizer fits into a pipe clamp on the underside of the drum which allows quick and easy height adjustment. The post is equipped with a memory clamp that ensures subsequent settings will be quick and precise every time, while a pair of supports provide added stability.
Air Seal System for Superior Shells
The use of Yamaha's original Air Seal System is, in part, responsible for the superior quality found in Yamaha drum shells. Select woods are cut into plies, positioned with staggered diagonal seams, and sealed together with evenly distributed air pressure. The resulting shells are perfectly round and of uniform thickness delivering superior tone quality and exceptional durability.
The Junior Kit comes equipped with durable, but lightweight hardware. The set includes a snare stand specifically designed for the smaller- diameter snare drum. Cymbals sold separately.

Comments about Yamaha Manu Katche Signature Jr. Drum Set:
I've added a couple of pieces and turned it into a 6-piece fusion kit - that fits in a Prius with room for a passenger! I put Evans EC-2 heads on the toms and I've received numerous compliments on the sound. The kick is thumpy with lots of articulation. The trick is to tune the back head just a bit over finger tight. The only problem with that is they sometimes come loose during a gig...
My roadie (me) loves the portability. With the evans heads, it truly sounds like a big kit. It's my monster kit in 3/4 scale!
