Comments about Yamaha Rock Tour 5-Piece Shell Pack:
I got this shell pack a couple of years ago, only with the wood Rock Tour snare instead of the steel snare provided with this shell pack. I have since added an identical 10x7 rack tom to round out my options a little. Bottom line, these drums have a fat, bombastic sound that is hard to resist. So far, the stock pinstripe heads still sound so good that I am reluctant to change them out. I want to put some lighter heads on it to see how sensitive the drums can get. For loud styles like rock, these drums provide professional quality sound at a steal of a price. The mounts are sturdy; I have the rack toms on my Pearl ICON - a rock solid combination. With the stock heads, they take a beating and stay in tune for days. The textured red sunburst finish is stunning. When I took them out of the box, I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that you could actually feel the wood grains, which give the drums a unique look. Overall, I would recommend this kit to anyone looking to upgrade from a starter kit to something that sounds more professional. This will probably be the last kit I will buy, for a while anyway.
