This Yamaha Stage Custom birch drum shell pack is also great for the beginner or the working professional. The staggered diagonal seam allowed Yamaha to build a thin drum shell that will start round and stay round. The beautiful high-gloss lacquer finish and low-mass lugs lets the shell vibrate for superb tone and sustain. Yamaha's Air Seal System used for drum shell construction ensures each and every Yamaha drum shell is of uniform thickness and is perfectly round to achieve superior tone quality and durability. Hardware and cymbals sold separately.

I bought this kit recently as a second kit just to have for those times I have two gigs in a day. Got the Honey Amber color. Very solid kit. Like most drum sets, the stock heads it comes with are pathetic. Put some Evans clear G2's on the tops and Evans clear resonant heads on the bottom, and you will have yourself a very nice sounding kit! no complaints here at all.

This is a great mid-level drum set with plenty of great features. I picked this up as my first "real" set at my local drum shop which actually closed down about a year ago. They had limited selection, but as soon as they showed me this set, I knew that it was for me. I will definately be buying from Yamaha in the future.
I love the tom set-up with the 10" 12" and 16". It's unique, produces a great variety of sounds, and is not to hard to find drumhead packs for. I also love the YESS mounting system and all of the hardware.
Awesome durability, even though it hasn't moved from my basement in a year, it hasn't chipped or anything. The stock heads are decent, but you'll probably want to purchase some new ones eventually.
As I said, great value. It holds its own against some great sets out there and is an amazing deal for the price.
