Comments about Yamaha Stage Custom Birch Tom:

For what many folks would consider to be "cheap" or "low-end" drums, these are a great value. Yes, they're made in China, but apparently Yamaha has insisted on strict quality control. I find the tone to be more "round" than my $2500 US Ludwigs, which are maple. Tuning these is easy, and the hardware is excellent, although I did have a floor tom leg come loose at one point- not a broken screw, just vibrated loose.

          Worth The Wait!

Comments about Yamaha Stage Custom Birch Tom:

I just got this drum recently. Added to my natrual birch set already! Looks like it was made with the same tree! Sounds just as good as my Sonor Maple 14". I changed the batter head to an Evans EC2. The original sucked. But now it sounds great. A bit more resonation than I liked, so I put a moon gel on it an boom....perfect sound! This set and drum is worth the money and then some. It is beautiful and sounds great. The 14' is a great addition to the 10, 12, 16 toms, and 22 bass I already had! I use it as my home set! It is way to pretty to be trashing it with gigs!

          The Best

Comments about Yamaha Stage Custom Birch Tom:

I've owned many top brands over the years Ludwig, Gretsch, Slingerland etc... to name a few. They were all great, but in my opinion they don'tcompare to the Yamaha Stage Custom Birch, the projection is pheonominal, tone is deep and clear, attack is pronounced. first I removed both factory heads and put the heavy batter on the bottom and topped it off with an Evans Hydraulic Glass. Pure bliss, nice and throathy with lots of punch and a fast decay, just the way I like it!!
