Sweet wood sound and impeccable Yamaha quality!
The Yamaha Stage Custom Nouveau 5-Piece Fusion Drum Set is a drum kit that's ready for serious grooving. It combines Yamaha's precision craftsmanship with the warm, attenuated sound of birch. Rich finishes adorn deeper and thinner 8-ply shells with 1.6mm triple-flange steel hoops and birch (outer ply), Philippine mahogany, and falkata construction. Yamaha's Air Seal System used for shell construction ensures each and every shell is of uniform thickness and is perfectly round to achieve superior tone quality and durability.
Nouveau lugs are attached to the shell by fiber-reinforced composite bolts at 2 points by a unique floating design that reduces vibration damping. It also makes changing heads easier since you don't have to remove the tuning bolts. Rack toms feature the Yamaha Enhanced Sustain System (YESS) mounting system that allows attachment of the drum to the tom holder without the need of a hole in the drum shell for the rod to pass through. The ball-clamp triple tom holder gives total freedom in positioning and superior stability. The bass drum features matching wood hoops and sturdy hexagonal bass drum spurs. Includes wood snare with Nouveau lugs. Cymbals not included.

What can I say? Yamaha makes great products. The hardware looks wonderful and is very sturdy. The pedals are smooth. The drums have thin shells so they produce a nice warm sound and bottom-end. I love them. The bass drum is THUNDER. The snare has a unique sound that I absolutely love. And the red finish looks phenomenal! Definately worth more than the price tag suggests. I'd say it could use upgrades pedals and 2.3mm rims, but other than that, this set is amazing! If you know how to tune, this set will do wonders for you.
I have a DTexpress set and a Hip Gig set but needed a larger set for bigger gigs and some of the club work I do and these fit the bill just right. The way drums are made now days you can have smaller diameter drums but still get that big sound. With the 10 and 12 inch rack toms this kit has I am getting the full sound I need. The bass drum delievers a deep BOOM. The hardware is good quality. The finish is very nice, I have Raven black. I bought these and took them right into a 5 nighter club gig and was very pleased with the sound. I mic mine and had no problems getting them in the mix. I have 3 Yamaha kits and a Yamaha Pa, mains and monitors and my board for my drums is also Yamaha. This is a good kit for working players or for players just getting started. After all it's sound and quality and this kit has both at a good price. I recommend looking at Yamaha before you buy anything else.
i was not sure if i should buy this set because of the rumors of the nouveau lugs stripping. i decided to take the chance and i love the set. the finish is awesome, and of course the sound is top notch for the price. hardware is also quite impressive. i have had no problem with the lugs, and the people who stripped them most likely threaded them wrong. i would recommend new heads and then these drums will be even better.
This set is a great buy. Everything aout it is nice. You can even give it your own personal look because of how the parts can be arranged in almost any way. I have the Honey Amber color, and if you can't decide on your color, thats what I recommend. The only downside I would say is that every head except for the snare came in off, and heads take a pretty long time to put on and tune right.
I've been a drummer for 5 years, started out on a Yamaha DTXPress, and then got this set. I LOVE this set, and have done countless gigs with it, always easy and pleasurable to set up & pack up. I have the Natural Gloss finish, and am 100% happy that I got that, because my drums show up on the stage (they don't blend in like dark green or black ones would). I think these drums sound as good as the even higher range sets, when they're tuned right. The construction of this set is very rugged and it has stood up to moving constantly for gigs without ever showing a sign of breakage. Overall, a great and playable set for any level of a drummer.
This set is absolutely the best of all. I own it. I've been a drummer for 19 years and this is the best set I've ever played on. The sound of the toms are incredible! If you're thinking about getting a set, this is the one. In my opinion, Tama is over rated. Yamaha is the next best thing!
I played with a whole lot of kits from birch to maple but this Yamaha sounds awesome at a friendly price! You just have to make a little upgrades of the hardware and heads then, you are all set. I highly recommend this diamond in the rough!
I used to have an older, not so great quality drum set, and it was time for a new one after years and years pure enjoyment and love for playing the drums. I don't play in a band currently, but I definitely wanted a high quality, great sounding drum set that was going to last and that provided versatility and great sound without spending thousands. Boy did I find it with this set. I absolutely love it. This is a set that can be used for many styles and types of music. It sounds fantastic, and is a brilliant buy. If you are looking for a professional sounding/looking drum set but you don't have or want to spend over a thousand or more, look no further and buy this kit, I love it and I know anyone who plays will too. If you are thinking about purchasing this set, and you don't just want to take someones word for it, make a point to go and try it out at a drum store that has drum sets set up to demo, and once you play this kit for even just a minute or two, you'll see EXACTLY what I'm talking about!!!
This was my first drumset i bought from a friend 6 years ago. It still works all i ever changed to it was the tomheads for Evans and Aquarian superkick 2 for the bass. The bass sounds amazing, it has gotten me kicked from 2 condominiums already. This is a great kit to start off with.
This drumset was the first I bought. I have been playing it for five years at least 10 hours a week and it still looks and sounds incredible. You can't go wrong with Yamaha or this drumset!
