Custom graphics over resonant Tour Custom maple shells put Moto-X at the head of the pack!
The Yamaha Tour Custom Moto-X four-piece shell pack features an extra-large booming bass drum and a solid black finish with metallic orange racing stripes.
All Yamaha wood drums have one thing in common: Yamaha's craftsmen create every drum shell using Yamaha's exclusive staggered diagonal-seam Air Seal System just as they have since 1967. Each two- or three-ply master ply is cut to length to very precise tolerance with a diagonal cut on each end. The diagonal seam in the drum shell will not separate, eliminating the need to fill gaps in the bearing edge with filler putty. These plies have glue applied and are then put into the mold by hand, one master ply at a time. The craftsman then inserts an air bag into the mold and inflates it, clamping the shell with even pressure 360° around. This process creates a shell that is strong, starts round, and stays round for many years.
100% Maple Shell
Tour Custom drum shells are 100% maple. The bass drums are 7-ply 7mm and have a warm, deep tone; the toms are 6-ply 6mm, with lots of warmth and resonance and have a wide tuning range. The matching wood snare drum has body, yet plenty of high end and is very articulate at all dynamic levels.
Universal Size Drums
Tour Custom drums are available in Yamahas universal sizes. This ratio of diameter to depth makes these drums versatile enough for any musical situation. The bass drums have low-end punch but are responsive, the toms have lots of power, yet great sustain. The 6" x 14" matching wood snare drum has a very wide tuning range and great sensitivity so it is right at home on the road playing large venues or around town on a club date.
60 Degree Bearing Edges
All Tour Custom drums have 60-degree R2 bearing edges. This is something new for Yamaha on a maple shell drum set. This bearing edge has a rounder profile so that there is more shell to head contact. This gives the drums clarity in the low-end fundamental and added warmth.
Bass Drum Spurs
Sturdy, yet simple in design; the bass drum spurs hold the bass drum firmly in place even under heavy playing. They are height adjustable using a drum key, and there are steel spikes that can be exposed when extra hold is needed. They fold op compact for transport and are marked with angle indicators so that you can set them up the same every time.
YESS Tom and Floor Tom Brackets
All Tour Custom toms and floor toms use the YESS (Yamaha Enhanced Sustain System). The toms have a mount attached to the shell at the nodal point by two bolts. This system allows the drum shell to vibrate freely for maximum sustain without restricting the placement of the drums. The floor tom brackets are small, minimal contact mounts that are located at the nodal point. They hold the legs securely in place without restricting the vibration of the shell.
Ball Clamp and Triple Tom Holder
Tour Custom drum sets include the TH-945 triple tom holder with Yamaha's tom ball clamp that gives you 360° rotation. The ball, made of a super-hard resin, is held in place by a single bolt making angle adjustments on the toms quick and easy. The toms lock firmly in place at virtually any angle you want. This versatile tom holder lets you mount any combination of up to three toms and/or cymbals by using either the standard or the long version of Yamaha's tom ball clamp and CH model cymbal booms.
Beautiful Lacquer Finish
The Moto-X Tour Custom drums are finished in high-gloss lacquer, three translucent and one solid black finish coat with metallic orange racing stripes.
Cymbals and hardware not included.

I have been drumming for about 12 years now and before this yamaha I owned a standard pearl kit. Once I bought the Yamaha I wont go back. This Kit is awesome. The bass drum is thunderous! YESS mounting system is simple and convenient. Listen, take my advise..you won't regret purchasing this kit.
I love the sound and look of this kit. It absolutely booms and looks great on and off the stage. I've had it about a month and have played it out twice. I have owned drum sets from almost every major manufacturer and for the price, the Yamaha Moto-X would be hard to beat(no pun intended). But, nothings perfect? Therefore, I must mention the negatives. The floor tom legs not only do not have locking lugs but you also have to use a drum key to tighten them. How un-handy. That's it. Everything else is very good.
I just got it two days ago, and I absolutely love it. However, I wish it had more toms. Aside from that everything included sounds amazing even with the cheap stock heads. All said and done, I would have bought the same kit over.
I bought this set after owning and touring with a Yamaha Stage Custom set for 10 years. Yamaha is a great brand and the upgrade to all maple shells, 24" bass drum, and unmounted floor tom on the tour custom was well worth the money. The toms have a great warm sound and the 24" bass is incredible live! The only reason I gave features a 4.5 is because the snare seems a little on the weak side. Overall, a great buy!
The color/finish on this set looks Stunning. I have had several comments about it during shows. The better thing about this drumset, is the sound is even better then the looks. The 24" bass is like a canon, it's Low and full sounding. The Floor tom rumbles, you can tune it to a wide range. The Tom-tom is great, wish it had a little lower sound, but still nice, the mount is amazing.Ths snare that comes with it is really good, (most stock snares you play once and don't touch again) this snare has a very wide tunning range froma rocker low to a really high pop to a crisp jazz tone. To sum it all up, if you are looking for a drumset and have the money to spend on this, there is no reason not to get this set. You wont be sorry!
Yamaha Tour Custom Moto-X Shell Pack: I've played on Pearl drum kits for close to ten years now and I was kind of hesitant to go for a Yamaha kit. Once I got the kit I changed all the heads out with remo pinstripe clearcoats and they sound absolutly awesome. The kick drum is so loud and very present even without a kick mic (good for practice with bands and smaller venues) but thats not to say that this kit sounds amazing on stage with a full mic kit. I recommend this kit to anyone looking for a big sound and killer looks. The toms have very good sustain and are very warm sounding. Snare sounds great also, very present and can be tuned in MANY different ways depending on your style, yet it sounds great each tuning (even with the factory drum head). Compared to the pearl kits I've used in the past this kit is def. as good, or maybe even better in some areas than the pearl kits.
I asked for some sticks, started banging away, and I fell in love. It is the greatest sounding kit i have ever played. The kick and snare drums are cannons. The toms have a warm, shallow sound. This is most definitley the greatest drum kit ever invented. Yamaha has outdone themselves with this kit. I played this drumkit and then a played a $5000 DW that was also in the store and I prefer the Yamaha. This is a must-have for all drummers who want an awesome-sounding kit that is affordable.
