OVERVIEW

Short, tight, funky beat.

The A Series Zildjian is the world's most popular and versatile cymbal. Created from cast bronze alloy of 80% copper, 20% tin, and traces of silver, it is symmetrically machine hammered and lathed with a traditional wide groove. The result is an exuberant cymbal that bursts with a classic voice that is pure, bright, and expressive. The Quick Beats have an especially fast response with 4 holes in the bottom that allow quick air release.

Comments about Zildjian A Series Quick Beat Hi-Hat Pair:

i have owned just one set of hi-hats since 1987, the 14" A quick beats. i literally grew up with this pair.

this set is remarkably versatile and unique. i would say mine don't even sound like anyone else's. i have used them for "shoegaze", "brit rock", psychedelic prog rock, punk, and in an 80's tribute band (even some jazz and "pops" music during college). in terms of tone and color they essentially always reminded me of alex van halen's hi-hats (although i think he used paistes in the classic VH years).

current cymbal rig is: 12" A splash, 14" A quick beat hats, 14" zildjian light crash (from istanbul late '50s, light and shimmery), 16" & 18" zbt crashes, 17" A crash, 18" zbt china, 20" A ride with sizzles (my primary ride), 22" ping ride (got this with the hats, almost gong like when you really lay into it).

i am finally thinking that they may be too dark and heavy a sound for what i want now. i think i want something very crispy and light, y'know, a nice chick sound without a lot of clang, but i will never get rid of these guys. close to thirty years and still going strong... will always be a zildjian man.

Comments about Zildjian A Series Quick Beat Hi-Hat Pair:

Wow, I have owned these for almost 10 years and still haven't cracked them! I'm usually hard on cymbals especially crashes but these bad boys are still going and easily my favorite. Whenever they do go out Im gonna get another set. They do sound better with age too!

Comments about Zildjian A Series Quick Beat Hi-Hat Pair:

I purchased my brilliant finish 14 inch quick beats in 1988...and have been using them ever since. I played full time back then, and still play full time (and teach) today. I play a variety of music from rock to jazz, country funk and even disco. These hats are perfect for everything - they don't just "fit in"...they make EVERY genre sound good. I'll never buy another set of hats again (unless someone steals my Quick beats)- but then I'll just happily purchase another set.

      Zildjian 14

      By DJazz

Comments about Zildjian A Series Quick Beat Hi-Hat Pair:

I have been using these Avedis 14" Quick Beat HH's since 1986. IMHO, these are the most versitile set of hats on the market. Quick...sure because of the holes in the bottom hat. Smooth...without a doubt. Hot...not as much for recording because they are quite thick and the appropriate mic's are required to catch their full range. However, for live gigs, they hit when you need them to, just open-em-up a bit. Crisp & clear...PERFECT. I use a 1975 Gretch 6" snare and the tight combination is perfect. If you're looking for a Crisp-tight-smooth set of Hats...then these are for you. DJazz~>

Comments about Zildjian A Series Quick Beat Hi-Hat Pair:

I've owned the 13" Quick Beat hats for around three years now and absolutely love them. When closed they have a bright and crisp chick. When played semi-open, these hats truly shine. The holes cut in the bottom cymbal create a very defining sound. There's no washy sound, just smooth perfection.Stick response is amazing. I've played these anywhere from jazz-style to hard rock to a more metalish style. These can hold up to the heavy hitters too.Hands down, a very solid investment.

      30+ years and still great!

Comments about Zildjian A Series Quick Beat Hi-Hat Pair:

I've been using the same Zildjian quick beat hi-hats for over 30 years now and the still sound great. I've tried other brands and types and keep coming back to these. Once you get use to the responsiveness the air hole in the bottom hi-hat gives regular hi-hats don't seem right. They sound full and bright. I've always been proud of them.

Comments about Zildjian A Series Quick Beat Hi-Hat Pair:

I originally bought these to use in an alternative rock band, and they were great. They cut well but weren't overpowering, and have a real crisp sound due to the vents on the bottom hat. Took them on tour and they held up well. I've just recently started using them as jazz hats too, they're easy to keep soft and again, the crisp "chick" blends well. I don't have anything bad to say about these, definitely recommended.

      Wow

Comments about Zildjian A Series Quick Beat Hi-Hat Pair:

Best hi-hats I have played on. I tested these and new beats for a long time in a music store, and went with these because of the crisper "chick" sound they give. Although I do play some hard rock, these wouldn't be my first choice for heavy play styles.
