OVERVIEW

Strong initial attack and smooth, fast decay!

True to their name, Fast Crashes have a smooth, fast decay. Following a strong initial attack, these cymbals are bright, full-bodied, and musical. The paper-thin weight provides for a soft, buttery feel, and plenty of playability. Very responsive, these cymbals excel in moderate acoustic settings and in recording environments. Beginning with the 14" size, going up to the 18", these cymbals increase in volume and sustain while maintaining their unique, quick voices.

After playing the new A Zildjian Fast Crashes, Matt Sorum of Velvet Revolver commented, "These cymbals have a nice brilliant sound and really jump out at you. They also have a nice attack and decay. They are in the tradition with the As, but a newer, hipper, and more modern version. Zildjian is always trying new ideas and that's a good thing!"

I bought this after being very impressed with my Zildjian A 14" Fast Crash. The 14" is a much brighter, brilliant cymbal and is a favorite of mine. This new 17" is a nice mix with my other cymbals (All Zildjian A's) as it has a slight darker quality to it. A sharp glancing blow to the cymbal reveals a shimmering, instant crash that quickly vanishes. I would avoid hitting this very hard using a direct, vertical smack as it may not hold up. I play at home and not professionally. Although have been playing for over 40 years.

Got this cymbal as a "free" addition to a cymbal pack. It sounds somewhere between a typical weight crash and a splash. To me, it doesn't have the body and fullness I want a cymbal to have. It sounded anaemic, even next to my 10" K splash. I think these fast crash cymbals sound good in the larger sizes, but I would avoid the 14" unless you are looking for a cymbal that just doesn't make much impact.

Comments about A Zildjian Fast Crash:

The Zildjian A series Fast Crash cymbals in general are really a great choice for recording in a studio situation. They are easily controlled, and have a shorter decay than some other cymbals do. They are also bright with a nice midrange, but not harsh sounding. Very musical, with no strange overtones. Very clean sounding, actually. I also own the 15" one, and they go very nice together! It's a nice change in tone between the two. I highly recommend them for recording, or smaller venues, or for anywhere you don't want to get too loud. But they do have some projection as well. There not dull or muted sounding. Great sounds! Go for it!!

Comments about A Zildjian Fast Crash:

I bought my first Zildjian 18" fast crash when I was 15. It lasted me about 4 years, and those are good years. This was my primary crash, and I am a heavey hitter. I picked up a ZHT Fast Crash to hold me over for a while since I was no longer playing in a band, and it was junk!! The ZHT did not even make it 6 months and I was not hardly using it! I then went out and got a new A series and have been using it for over a year with no problems. It is definatly worth the extra money to just get the Avedis series from the get go.

Comments about A Zildjian Fast Crash:

I purchased this cymbal to replace my 40 year old 15" Zildjian crash which was made in Turkey. While cymbals and all music is subjective, I felt the sustain of this cymbal was too short. Also, I did not like the quality of the tone. It was weak and flat and (to my ear anyway) not very musical. I then purchased the 15" custom fast crash and was very pleased as the sustain was a little longer and the tone was richer. This probably is a great cymbal for certain applications, just didn't work for me. I mostly play '50's, 60's, 70's.

I'm a hard hitter and was reluctant to buy a thin cymbal but so far the Fast Crash holds up. Great explosive crash, dignified decay, and a surprisingly large and defined bell for a crash cymbal.

I bought an A seires set had it for about two weeks, and then the 16" cracked out of the blue. I feel like it must have been a fluke, because all the other reviews I've seen say the same cymbal lasted a long time. The rest of the set is still going strong, and even with a crack, it sounds awesome. I'm going to get it replaced, and I would still recommend these crashes.

This is a great crash. It's loud and cuts into your sound but just enough. Fast decay (well that's kinda self explanatory) and GREAT sound. I was looking for a ZHT fast crash but I got this instead. Let me tell you, well worth the extra money. Ya it's a little pricey but well worth the money. GET THIS CYMBAL!!!

I have the 16" version of this symbol, really great sound. Ive only had it for a week, but im concerned if it will last, its quite thin, but what do you expect from a fast crash. Fast responce, begginers should get more durable symbols in my opinion.

Comments about A Zildjian Fast Crash:

I bought the 16" fast crash for a b-day and tried it out. Its a very good sounding cymbal, very light and washy (almost jazzy) but I found out the hard way that its a delicate cymbal. It'll dish out a decent amount of punishment but if you hit too hard it may crack. Overall it's a little expensive for its quality, and is probably better for jazzy or lighter music.

Comments about A Zildjian Fast Crash:

I've had the 16 inch version of this cymbal for a little over four months now and I love it. It rings out really quick when hit, and it's great for cymbal swells, too. It's extremely thin; the first thing I noticed was that you can easilly bend it's shape temporarilly with your hands, so I was worried that it would crack or dent quickly. However, it's holding up extremely well, it still looks new and I hit it constantly. If you're looking to get into cast cymbals, the fast crashes are a great way to start, they sound great and they're relatively inexpensive.

The life of my second 16" Zildjian Fast Crash is about to end, but my god, I've been using it for 12 years! I've been tempted by the free 15" Sabian if you buy any of our junk crashes, but after reading the reviews of nearly every crash sabian makes, Is there ANY Sabian that lasts more than 2 or 3 years?! That's ridiculous! No Doubt I'll be picking up another Zildjian "A" 16" crash. It's a one-trick pony but it's a must have in my book. I've always been accused of playing loud but I know how to hit 'em and I get good life out of my Ziljians. It's not how hard you hit, but how you Hit 'em Hard.

Comments about A Zildjian Fast Crash:

This is a higher-pitched cymbal than I'm used to playing, but it's really nice to have for adding some color or when you want to have a really quick decay. I would not use it as my main crash. I chose the 15" model because it bridged the gap between my 16" crash and my 10" splash and I didn't get it confused for one of my hihats. I find myself going to use it for an accent crash a lot. I would buy it again.
