The sound of the 1960s recaptured!

The Armand Medium Thin Crash Cymbal from Zildjian creates a robust body of overtones while cutting easily through with a bright and fast response.

Based on the popular 19" Armand Ride and the inimitable sound of the '60s, Zildjian proudly introduces the Armand cymbal series into the A Zildjian range. During the explosion of rock and pop music of the '60s, the great drummers of groundbreaking bands used A Zildjian cymbals to make their mark. You can hear Zildjian's distinctive sound in the great recordings of that era, from The Beatles to The Beach Boys, from Cream to The Jimi Hendrix Experience, from The Rolling Stones to The Spencer Davis Group. Zildjian has now resurrected that nostalgic cymbal sound with these exciting new Armand cymbal models.

New shaping techniques create a slightly lower profile than A Zildjian cymbals and help to offer a special warm and smooth blend of overtones. Lighter weight specifications promote a fast cymbal response with special lower-pitched overtones without the loss of projection potential.

Zildjian left these babies without any protective coating to help promote the aged look and patina that cymbals from the '60s would have today. A tighter lathe on top combined with the current A Zildjian lathing on the bottom results in a unique feel for each new Armand cymbal model.

Armand 18

Comments about Zildjian Armand Medium Thin Crash Cymbal:

I was looking for another cymbal to complement my Avedis 18" med-thin crash so I brought my cymbal w/me to my favorite drum store. The guy helping me recommended the 18" version of this cymbal. I was a little hesitant since this was a new line of cymbal from Zildjian & there weren't any reviews to read up on. Anyway, we put the cymbals together & I stood across the room so I could hear how they sounded when he hit them. If you love the Avedis line, you'll love these as well. Bright & responsive, & because of their med-thin weight, they're loud when you need them to be. I suggest handpicking the one you like since the same cymbals will all sound differently. And don't go by how it sounds when your hitting them. Make sure you hear how it sounds when you're across the room so the sound projects at you. It totally sounds different. This is a nice sounding crash that'll go w/all types of music. Check 'em out. You won't be disappointed. Compliments my "A" perfectly & compliments to Zildjian once again for another fine product!

Comments about Zildjian Armand Medium Thin Crash Cymbal:

First time I've felt compelled to write a review here. Great Cymbal (18")... fast, but not too fast, not too loud either, powerful clean tone, nice bell, compliments my Sabian Metal-X very well. Made the right choice this time for sure!

Not even for moderate hitters

Comments about Zildjian Armand Medium Thin Crash Cymbal:

I live in the Philippines, so The best Zildjian cymbals usually don't make it this far. Yet, I found this in a local shop and loved the sound. I also got it for a pretty decent price. It had sustain, but not too much in a pingy sense. It's also great for many genres. I took it home and it was great. But after about two months I noticed that it had started to ship in 2 or 3 places. I was very disappointed. I managed to fix the cracks, and then I got 2 more. I finally just gave up on it and beat the living daylights out of it. Now it's in a condition not even near playable. I personally am a moderate hitter, not too hard, but not a weakling either. I thought this cymbal would last for at least a year, but no. Very disappointed. I do not recommend it to anyone playing rock, unless you're a professional who can replace it every now and then.

A grown up crash.

Comments about Zildjian Armand Medium Thin Crash Cymbal:

I got the 16" in slightly used condition back in December of '09. Since then it has darkened both in appearance and tone. The lack of a protective coating on the cymbal allows for a patina to build very quickly. My cymbal already looks and sounds much older than it is. Which brings me to it's sound. Classic A Zildjian sound, Bright with dark overtones. Just a sweet, versatle tone that sounds good in about any situation. I don't know how well this will cut through heavier mixes, though, so If you want the same sound but with added projection, go for the regular A line. However if you want to bring back the sound of the 60's, there is no better choice.

Comments about Zildjian Armand Medium Thin Crash Cymbal:

I'm thirteen and bought this and the 16" and though I was blown away by the cost, the sound and quality makes up for it. These are quite what some people would say "multi-purpose" cymbals because I can play to jazz OR metal.
