OVERVIEW

The look and sound from rock's glory days.

The Zildjian Armand Ride Cymbal is a classic A Zildjian ride that offers a sweet shimmering quality of overtones without loss of control or ride articulation. The Armand Ride cymbal features a larger sized cup for excellent bell access.

Based on the popular 19" Armand Ride and the inimitable sound of the '60s, Zildjian proudly introduces the Armand series into the A Zildjian Cymbal range. During the explosion of rock and pop music of the '60s, the great drummers of groundbreaking bands used A Zildjian cymbals to make their mark. You can hear Zildjian's distinctive sound in the great recordings of that era, from The Beatles to The Beach Boys, from Cream to The Jimi Hendrix Experience, from The Rolling Stones to The Spencer Davis Group. Zildjian has now resurrected that nostalgic cymbal sound with these exciting new models.

New shaping techniques create a slightly lower profile than tht found on A Zildjian cymbals and help to offer a special warm and smooth blend of overtones. Lighter weight specifications promote a fast cymbal response with special lower-pitched overtones without the loss of projection potential.

Zildjian left these babies without any protective coating to help promote the aged look and patina that cymbals from the '60s would have today. A tighter lathe on top combined with the current A Zildjian lathing on the bottom results in a unique feel for each new Armand Cymbal model.

I recently started back playing drums after an almost 30 year layoff. I was having trouble finding the ride sound I cherished in the 60's until I discovered the Armand Zildjian 21" ride. Was using a Meinl ride, but the sound of the Armand Zildjian is so much sweeter, with excellent stick ping and override to be heard distincly when played with other instruments. Thanks Zildjian

This has nothing to do with the Cymbals, they are great sounding and very playable. But! Beware the way these are shipped from Musician's Freind. I had nicks and scratches on my very expensive cymbals. The packaging consisted of a box with paper in it for protection. Not even close to being safe.

    Ehh...

Comments about Zildjian Armand Ride Cymbal:

Well I got this ride from a friend that had used it for a few months until he got a new cymbal pack.. At first I HATED it! It had way too much ring and very little decay at all! But at the time, I was using very light weight cheap sticks. I decided to try some better, nylon tip sticks. Now it sounds great! I didn't think it would make that much of a difference! It has a nice 'ping' to it now, when at first if just had a 'clunk' sound. And with the nylon tips, the decay is pretty good. Also, this ride is one of the LOUDEST rides I've ever played with! I sometimes use it during breakdows as a crash! I know that's not good for the cymbal, but I like the sound, so what the heck? Overall, it's a good one to have if you play really heavy stuff.

Comments about Zildjian Armand Ride Cymbal:

I had to use someone elses drums for a show and he pulled this out of his cymbal bag 21". I played it. I now want it. I've been looking for a crash/ride that fits what I want, but this beats them all. I love how it crashes, I love the bell, and I love just whaling or riding on it. It's so versatile, and it sounds so good. I'm saving for it now.

I generally use large cymbals for my set up, and i need a new main crash, so I went around my music store trying a bunch of 20'' crashes then they told me to try this ride... WOW! i bought and i've been using this as my main crash ever since, it blends well with my k crash ride 20'' and my 24'' medium ride... great combo, great crash, pretty good rideoh yeah also, the ride capabilities are amazing also... pretty ping, nice warm wash, great belltotally get this cymbal

Comments about Zildjian Armand Ride Cymbal:

I own this ride and it was my very first Zildjian product. Amazing sound character and it great for jazz. Also goes on for rock. The only part I don't like about it is that the 20" has a long decay, not suitable for metal. But, Zildjian makes quality products and if you want a top class ride, ge this one.

    excellent all-around ride

    By RockNBlues

    from Detroit

Comments about Zildjian Armand Ride Cymbal:

This ride is incredibly versatile. For years I have been looking for the perfect all-around ride cymbal and I think I finally found it. The body has a shimmering shound like the thinner Zildjian K's but with a brighter tone that fits more styles of music. The bell has good definition without sounding like a cowbell. It's funny that I have been trying all of the newest stuff every year looking for the perfect ride and a retro-model Zildjian is what I found. Sweet sound. Can't stop playing it.

    Very Sweet and Shimmering

    By Sakatch

Comments about Zildjian Armand Ride Cymbal:

This ride cymbal stands out among the others. Its bell has a sweet sound on it that can cut and project. I sometimes use it as a crash cymbal, and its sound brightens up the place with shimmering overtones. I play for a metal band and this cymbal also takes the abuse. My band loved me for it. Its kinda dark and very responsive. Buy it! Very nice!

Comments about Zildjian Armand Ride Cymbal:

One day I decided to buy a new ride, so I went to the music store and hit cymbals for like an hour, and this one just jumped out at me. The sound will just blow you away! I was a little unimpressed with the bell, but maybe that's just me.... It is by far my favorite ride cymbal I have ever played! Plus it is very versatile!

    great for crash/riding

Comments about Zildjian Armand Ride Cymbal:

I was looking for a well rounded ride that can serve as a ride or crash. This was the perfect choice, much like the Sweet Ride, but with a little higher pitch, and more pronounced bell.its great for crash riding but at the same time, has a great bell and very pronounced "ping".
