A set of Zildjian's groundbreaking low-volume Gen16 cymbals with all accessories.
The Gen 16 AE Cymbal System is a paradigm shift in cymbal design. Gen16 Acoustic Electric cymbal are patented, low volume acoustic cymbals, which are then tone shaped through Digital Sound Processing using the DCP controller. The Gen16 Direct Source Pickup is a unique one-of-a-kind, patent-pending design for use with Gen16 cymbals, acoustic cymbals and other percussion instruments such as cowbells.
The Direct Source pickup is a two-piece system consisting of the sensor (attaches to cymbal, cowbell, etc) and LED light module & preamp section (attaches to cymbal stand / Hi-Hat stand / drum hardware). The Direct Source Pickup is designed for use only with the Gen16 DCP. Direct Source Pickups allow for more accurate cymbal definition and audio articulation, while completely eliminating feedback, cross-talk, and mic bleeding.
Whatever you can play on a traditional cymbal (brushes, scrapes, chokes, etc.), you can play on these. This allows for optimal playability when compared to a standard cymbal trigger. Each kit includes a dampening pin for each cymbal. This pin can be placed in any hole to reduce overtone, shorten decay, and lower the fundamental pitch of the cymbal.
Twenty percent of the volume, 100 percent of the feel. Order today.

Comments about Zildjian Gen16 38 Acoustic-Electric Cymbal Box Set with Direct Source Pickups:
I am an experienced Worship (Church) drummer and I have been playing services for six years. About three years ago we switched from acoustic drums to electronic drums to solve some sound issues. I immediately disliked the rubber cymbals, especially the high hats. I recently had an opportunity to add this cymbal kit to our Church drums and so far I really like them. The set up will be easy for any experienced E-drummer the only issue I had was the cymbal signal was hotter than my drum signal. I solved this by running both signals through the Cymbal processor and using the Cymbal/Drum mix knob to balance a combined signal to the mains. All of that being said, these cymbals do not feel or sound just like regular acoustic cymbals but if you are tired of rubber cymbals and high hats these are awesome. I really like having a more natural feel on the high hats. I am able to use stick articulation as well as all of my old high hat tricks I had to let go because of rubber high hat pads. I always prefer acoustic to electric but these are the next best thing. I will be adding more of these to the church kit (Yamaha DTX 550K) in the future.
