The K Custom Hybrid series is another innovative and musical line developed in conjunction with Akira Jimbo, a leading drum stylist. The Hybrids combine the unlathed, brilliant finish of the K Custom Ride on the inner half with the traditionally finished K Zildjian lathing on the outer half of the cymbal. This results in the possibility of two different sound dynamics depending where the cymbal is played. Additionally, the unlathed section helps to control the wash and sustain, rendering them ideal for recording and live situations.
The 20" Ride combines the defined stick attack and strong bell sound of the K Custom Ride with the crash-ability and increased spread of a thinner, lathed cymbal. It provides a unique musical statement that will challenge and inspire your artistic expressions.

I'm in love with this ride. It works fine for me in every situation. Love the ping (actually you have two different pings in 2 zones: brilliant and traditional), love the weight, love the tone, bell is so bright and cuts through every guitar riff. Amazing. And for me one of the biggest advantages is ability of ride to be crashed. Crashability is unbelievable! So dark, low and "psssshhhhh"! Take this and you will be happy in every genre of music!

My FIRST K Custom Ride! Using it along with a 21" A Custom REZO Ride, makes for a great mix and choices. The bell is large and has a fantastic sound. Moving around the cymbal you can get a variety of tones for ride. Has a great crash ride sound also.
Thes K Custom Hybrids are just fantastic. I have the 14" Hi-Hats also. When I replace my older A Zildjian 16"/17"/18" crashes (which are quite fine btw), they will be with K Custom Hybrids!

What a fantastic K Ride! Not too bright, not too dark. Real strong sound. Large bell with a great sound to it, and the middle vs. outer sections provide a good distinction in sound also. I got this an a 14" K Custom Hybrid Hi - also fantastic. From those 2 I realized when I change out my older A Zildjian crashes they will all be K Custom Hybdrid crashes now!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This is one fantastic ride cymbal! It is articulate and not too ringy for regular ride work, very washy and punchy for crashing, and the bell is very clear and pronounced, not to mention that the Hybrid line looks so cool! This is definitely a great investment for a drummer who plays all sorts of styles and doesn't have the money to buy several different rides for different sounds.

Played it at my local store, this is a great sounding ride due to the different textures of the cymbal; lathed & lightly hammered(good ping with overtones that are not too strong), smooth & heavy hammered(crisp & clean), with a bell to die for(loud,clear and pronounced), it should go great with my 2 hybrid crashes 16" & 17" , a Dark crash 18" and a Custom Sessions 18" crash. I will buy it as soon as I have the cash, which is why I gave it a 4.0 on value. The K series is damned expensive! I guess they're worth it cause I keep buying them. Rock on Dudes & Dudettes.

This is such a great ride! I love playing on it. The one (and only) downside is that it is a pretty thin ride. If you play with heavy hands at all, be prepared to replace it because it will crack easily. I am not a heavy player by any means but I still managed to crack mine. Still a great cymbal. I'm getting another to replace the cracked one.

Such a nice ride. Oh yes. Incredible crash. Very shimmery. Love the bell too, cuts through nicely. Lathed section has a nice ping with light-medium wash, very nice, jazzy sound. Unlathed section has super clear ping and some added volume. This thing is capable of producing some beautiful sounds and is very versitile. I play it in a hardcore and sometimes wish it was a little louder, but the crash and bell make up for it. Still audible when played on the unlathed section, but could be louder. Do some jazzier stuff too and couldn't ask for a better all-around ride for that. Wish it wasn't so EXPENSIVE but worth it if you got the cash.

In a ride, I look for one that has great stick definition, pronounced bell, and good crash. This cymbal covers them all beautifully! Let me start with my favorite part, the crash. This ride does not sound like a ride or crash ride even, when you use it as a crash, it just sounds like a ridiculously, unneccessarily large righteous crash cymbal, which I have yet to find another ride match. The ride also can be used as a really jazzy sounding ride if you play on the outer 1/4 of it, a really washy ride if you play on the very edge, or a really bright ride if you play in the middle 1/2 of it. The bell, is great, not amazing, but it does cut through very nicely! Overall, this ride can honestly produce any sound you want from a ride, or if you want a really thick sounding crash that still has shimmer in it, it can double as a stellar crash.

Best ride i've ever heard. Perfect ping over light wash. Looks great too. Normally I'm a fan of paiste, but this will be an exception. If you have the money, get it!!!!

Just bought this cymbal. Overall it is great. Having a combination of lathed and unlathed is great making it really easy to get different sounds from it. The bell is powerful, and it also sounds great as a crash. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes playing any rock style.
