I've played and owned MANY, MANY crashes over the years and the 16" K Dark Thin is my all-time favorite. I generally like thinner cymbals (except for my ride and bottom hi-hat) and even though I play various styles of music, this crash never lets me down. The quality of this cymbal is VERY consistent considering it's a hammered cymbal. I broke one after about 6 years (hey, it IS thin, and it IS my main crash) and the one I replaced it with is very, very close in sound. I give it a four in value because of the price -- i don't think Ks should cost THAT much more than any of Zildjian's other crashes. But, I'll pay what I have to for it. I also wouldn't be too afraid of cracking this cymbal because its thinner size allows for more "give." It does, however, bend and become kind of china-ish sounding. So be careful when hitting the edge. You really can't go wrong!

If your looking for a crash that explodes with musicality and can function in any musical situation, these are the ones. So dark and tonefull, can whisper or rock. The tone in the size 19 range sounds like the crash in "Reeling in the years" by Steely Dan. I Highly recommend !!

Comments about Zildjian K Dark Thin Crash Cymbal:

I was impressed by the sound that I'd heard on the various YouTube videos for this crash but I was worried that it might take a little bit more force to get that full bodied sound from such a big cymbal. However, it was very responsive and I was pleasantly surprised bell. Its actually bigger than it seems in the pictures reaching all the way to the top of the K. I actually prefer this bell to the one on my 20" K custom dark ride.

Comments about Zildjian K Dark Thin Crash Cymbal:

This cymbal rocks. I play rock music. Very big and wooshy. In the context of my kit it sounded a little 'tin'ier than at the store where i tested it, but this could be because all of my other cymbals havent been cleaned in years.

      My kit: Tama rockstar.
Other cymbals I have: K custom fast crash
      A custom ride
      Sabian AAXtreme Chinese

      But overall a great buy.

Exactly What A Crash Should Sound Like

      By Avar

Comments about Zildjian K Dark Thin Crash Cymbal:

I own the 17" and 18" (also have a 20" K Custom Dark Ride and a 19" K Custom Hybrid Crash). These cymbals are the best in the Zildjian line. If you were considering A Customs don't bother, these outperform in all aspects. Not too dark, not too bright - they scream quality.

      The epitome of beautiful

      By Sean Osbourne

      from San Francisco, CA

Comments about Zildjian K Dark Thin Crash Cymbal:

I have had the 19'' for two years. I play in a Black Metal band as well as a jazz ensemble (interesting combination, I know). And let me just say, that contrary to popular belief, this cymbal is NOT just for jazz. I use it as my main crash when I'm playing with my band, and when playing jazz I use it primarily as a ride. It has a strong, dark but warm at the same time when crashed, and buttery, warm and with beautiful overtones when used as a ride. It is safe to say that this is the best sounding, most versatile cymbal I have ever heard.

If you're looking for that dirty, fast, trashy sound than this is the crash for you. Louder than you would expect from a K series crash and spreads with the lightest strike of a stick.

Comments about Zildjian K Dark Thin Crash Cymbal:

i bought a 19" used off another site for way cheap. i even saw a clip of the exact cymbal i was buying. however, now that it's arrived, it lacks the fullbodiness i expected, and every time i crash it, the edges wobble quite visibly, which is a little scary for me. this was quite a letdown

Comments about Zildjian K Dark Thin Crash Cymbal:

I have the 14" and it has great attack (almost like a splash depending on how its played). I would suggest that you play soft-medium as they are thin. I like to push it sometimes to get that beautiful "maxed-out" shimmer sound out of it... however I mainly play this cymbal with the knowledge that it is thin and will break if I hit it too hard. I have had it for 2 years and there are no cracks or keyholing. Very musical cymbal and needs a musical drummer to be fully appreciated. Check it out at your local music store to see what everyone means.

I just received this cymbal and can't stop using it. No matter nylon or wood tip, it sounds amazing. Very loud ( high ) for open stages, and good acoustic for indoors. I hope don't bother my pastor.

      By Forceboy

Comments about Zildjian K Dark Thin Crash Cymbal:

I just got this cymbal last week, and its for sure rockin' in my kit already. I use this as my main crash since its not that loud. Though it isn't loud, its great for rock, but not heavy rock. If you're looking for one of the best crashes and you have a large budget, buy this! you won't regret it.

      By Anonymous

      from Undisclosed

Comments about Zildjian K Dark Thin Crash Cymbal:

This cymbal has a wonder, lush, and full sound. It's most suited to a quieter jazz setting (being a thin cymbal, it's not one to be hit hard), however the sound also creates a nice, dark accent in rock. I love it!

      My 17

      By pittzkraco

      from Bismarck, ND

Comments about Zildjian K Dark Thin Crash Cymbal:

This is hands down the best cymbal I have ever owned, it is endlessly versatile. I have played this crash everywhere from the bar to church and it always performs just how I want it to. With every other cymbal in my set-up I have alternatives e.g. a deep ride and a thin ride, heavy hats and light hats, etc. This is my main crash and there is no other crash I would even think of putting in its main spot. I alway ask myself, "If this cymbal broke or was stolen, what would I replace it with" the answer to this question is the true test of wether you have a great cymbal or not, my answer for this cymbal is I would relpace it with the exact same cymbal no question!!! I did get my crash in brilliant finish because I dig how that looks and all my other cymbals are brilliant, it still sounds darker than my other cymbals, it is a very complex cymbal. If you are looking for a main cymbal that can rock when you need to rock and can mellow out when you are looking for sophisticated, this baby is for you.
