OVERVIEW

Rich and warm, this thin ride works well as either a primary or secondary ride.

This 20" K Light Flat Ride is a thin-weight cymbal that was created with Zildjian's traditional K hammering and lathing techniques. It makes a great left-side alternative and, though thin, it's very playable and easy to control. It has good stick definition and a dark, dry sound that is rich and warm with overtones.

Comments about Zildjian K Light Flat Ride:

I bought this cymbal as a prototype on the "Zildjian on Tour" show last year. After about 5 months with this cymbal I have to say that "I LOVE IT!" You will too. It is the main ride in my small jazz kit. I ride on it, crash it, and it never fails to deliver. Keep in mind that it isn't a loud cymbal, but it is completely musical and it is a very textured ride. It will occasionally make it to my rock/pop kit for fusion playing. It is a good alternative to my K Con Ride for softer passages.

As close to Perfection as can be imagined

Comments about Zildjian K Light Flat Ride:

My setup consists of a Z Custom as a left side ride, and to my right, from about 20 to 50 degrees, is the home for a 22 and a 20 Zil A ride, a 20 Zil K Cust Light Dry ride, and a 20 Paiste Innovations ride, in ascending order of pitch. Just below 90 degrees (front and center) is this new 20 Zil K Flat ride, for which I had drooled over for years and years. It was better than I had imagined. It is bright and shimmering, with a pleasing low wash, and sizzles without sizzles. It is perfect for when we transition to a Jazz, Blues, or Fusion tune. It also has such a great tonality, that it works well for Alternative Rock, in place of riding a crash, so long as a mic is near. The cymbal plays from a very low to medium volume, but my distant vocal mike helps it be heard, even if through the PA. It is by far my favorite ride, and comes as close to perfection as my ear can imagine. It has no bell, so I run bell patterns on my other rides to resolve that issue. If you are a heavy-hitter, play with 2Bs, or are damaging medium weight cymbals, this cymbal will not hold up. It is a cymbal for light to medium players, and is a treasure to be treated with grace.
