The glue used to stick the rods is not of good quality... The rods pops out while you are playing... That is bad.

Well, I was hoping against hope that I would like these rods since the concept is very logical and promising. But unlike the fellow reviewer who liked these a lot, I just did not care for the feel of them while playing at all. I could feel the surrounding small dowels vibrating against the interior large dowel while playing, which is a bit disconcerting. The actual attack on the drums themselves lacked the punchiness I'm used to with both Pro Mark Hot Rods and Lightning Rods. Cymbal articulation was also not as good as the Pro Mark rods either. The vibrating dowels just felt strange in my hand and sounded 'different' on both drums and cymbals, at least in my experience. Maybe if they bound the smaller dowels tighter to the center dowel, it would make a difference, I don't know. And for what its worth, the large center dowel broke on one of the sticks tonight while playing at church. That is telling, as I used my worn out Pro Mark rods more than them, and that was only the 5 or 6th song I used them on, so they did not hold up well either. All in all, they were worth a shot, but its back to Pro Mark for myself and the tinnitus in my left ear.

These sticks have laste my whole career. 1 PAIR for over 13 years. Imagine. Ha...it unbelievable that the people at Zildjian would take the time to make something with this much quality and for this price. These are the sticks that everyone should have. Play guitar? then give your guitar a few whacks with them. See which breaks first.

I just spent two weeks touring with these AWESOME rods. I've been a die-hard user of the ProMark red rods for years, so I was not vulnerable to be swayed. But Zildjian has finally done what I've been looking for for years...they put a larger diameter rod in the center of the brush. This results in a stronger, bouncier feel, and the EQ improvement that you get is measurable and significant. If you're a rods guy, Zildjian is the new standard. I'm sure ProMark will respond to this obvious trump and start putting a larger rod in the center. But, until then, do not hesitate to make the switch. You will be amazed.
