I've had these for about a year and a half and have beat these to death, or so it would seem. These are extremely sturdy, show very little signs of wear over time, and have an amazing sound any way you hit them. They are extremely loud when open and hit with the side of the stick, but the sound is still great. You can make a wide variety of sounds with these. Jon Wysocki, Staind's drummer, uses the regular Z Custom highhats. After listening to all of his music and making my own with the Mastersounds, I much prefer these.

"Mastersound" is an adjective that tends to draw lots of attention. In addition, so does Z custom. Having an array of Z custom crashes that hold up to my extreme beatings, I figured the socks would do the same. Having played on a set of A custom's, I thought they would sound ALMOST the same and have the extra beef to them to hold up to my playing. Call it ignorance on my part but they didn?t even come close. They sound sweet closed with that chick one always desires. But when played open, they need to be partial because when full they die out extremely fast. They?re Z custom through and through but tone wise you need to try them out first and see if it?s what you?re looking for!

I bought these not to long ago, and was very impressed. I play metal,Joey Jordison (slipknot) James Sullivan (avenged sevenfold) are huge influences and I have to say if you are a slipknot fan these are for you, I love them they sound just like joey's. They arent as loud as I expected but they get the point across very clearly.

Beautiful Sound

I just recorded an album with these and they sound so much better than the ZXT's I had. They are definitely worth the price. Only thing is I don't really like its open sound. But half open it sounds really sweet and thats really the only way I use it.

Zildjian Z Custom Mastersound Hi-Hats

By MaSH

I've had these for only a little while now, but I love them. They are very loud when played open or half-open. The closed sound is nice, but there are better sounding hats for closed sounds. These hats are great for hard-hitters because they're very heavy. If you're looking for loud, heavy duty hi-hats, get these.

Stick with the A Customs!

By Weak Week 85

These are not worth the price at all. I was beginning to wonder why I didn't know any body who owned a pair of these. I tried the Z custom mastersounds at a local shop today and I was very disappointed. They are way to heavy to be hihats. Go with the A Custom Maastersounds instead. They are brigher, full bodied, and have a way better chick and wash sound than the Z customs. If you like Z Customs, get the megabell ride, and Crashes, but not these hihats!

Z Custom Mastersounds

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Extremly bright chick when playing closed. They can even be used for jazz if you don't ride on them. And don't be worried about them not being loud enough, these monstars can get REALLY loud. Tip: for enhanced attack and projection, use the bottom cymbal as a top. This will also increase their durabillity if you are a very hard-hitter.

The 14" Mastersound hi hats are amazing. They can be played closed or open. They have a great look and an even better sound. The are very loud and can be used in many different ways. Great investment.

I love these hi-hats like no other. They cut thru just about everything, and they still can sound so sweet. When played closed, the "chick" is just so awesome, and when played open, they are just amazing. They are a little expensive, but they are worth it. If you want the best hi-hats, then you should invest in these today!!

Z Custom Hi-Hats

By Mark-F0n17

I own a pair of these hats and they are extremely heavy. They do have a nice chick sound and good bead definition. But you also have to buy an extra heavy duty style hi-hat stand in order to suport the weight of them. I am looking to get rid of them.

Best Rock Hi Hats hands down

By Nodiggie-TESTIFY-AybrH

Excellent Rock hats. Very clear and cutting. Recorded in studio, I was surprised how crisp they were. They are slightly crispier than "A" Mastersounds in comparison and have a nicer polished finish. For the brutal player only. If you want quick Jazz,Fusion hats...get 13" hats instead.

Cuts like a razor through the mix

By M.C. Miranda

from El Paso, TX

Look no further if you want hats that will cut through heavy walls of sound created by a pair of distorted guitars and bass. Punk, Metal, Rock - if you play heavy music you'll be hard pressed to find a better pair of hats. Try them at a store before you buy them to make sure they don't overpower your kit, you'll know immediately whether or not you want 'em and if they fit your style of music. OH and you'll need a matching ride cymbal, or at least one that can keep up.

Could'nt believe my ears!

By STUMP

Let me say...these hats are truely what i was looking for. I must say that after years of playing Paiste Signatures, that i was very hesitant in purchasing anything else. I was wrong!! These hats are for one very loud. But they are so sweet, with a very defined chick and an awsome sizzle when played open. They are responsive and quick. I thank ye Zildjian for making these awsome hats. I also have all Z-custom cymbals to compliment these fine hats. Note to ye fellow drummers...Get Them!!
