I've had these for about a year and a half and have beat these to death, or so it would seem. These are extremely sturdy, show very little signs of wear over time, and have an amazing sound any way you hit them. They are extremely loud when open and hit with the side of the stick, but the sound is still great. You can make a wide variety of sounds with these. Jon Wysocki, Staind's drummer, uses the regular Z Custom highhats. After listening to all of his music and making my own with the Mastersounds, I much prefer these.

"Mastersound" is an adjective that tends to draw lots of attention. In addition, so does Z custom. Having an array of Z custom crashes that hold up to my extreme beatings, I figured the socks would do the same. Having played on a set of A custom's, I thought they would sound ALMOST the same and have the extra beef to them to hold up to my playing. Call it ignorance on my part but they didn?t even come close. They sound sweet closed with that chick one always desires. But when played open, they need to be partial because when full they die out extremely fast. They?re Z custom through and through but tone wise you need to try them out first and see if it?s what you?re looking for!

These are what they say Mastersound! Nothing compares playing them. You can beat them and they take every pounding and you get brillant sounds. Great buy!! Recommend them to everyone who likes good quality,
The 14" Mastersound hi hats are amazing. They can be played closed or open. They have a great look and an even better sound. The are very loud and can be used in many different ways. Great investment.
Excellent Rock hats. Very clear and cutting. Recorded in studio, I was surprised how crisp they were. They are slightly crispier than "A" Mastersounds in comparison and have a nicer polished finish. For the brutal player only. If you want quick Jazz,Fusion hats...get 13" hats instead.
i have owned these hi hats for 6 months and i cant even explain how awesome they are they are really really loud and they dont sound to badly closed either they are really worth the money!!!
I bought these not to long ago, and was very impressed. I play metal,Joey Jordison (slipknot) James Sullivan (avenged sevenfold) are huge influences and I have to say if you are a slipknot fan these are for you, I love them they sound just like joey's. They arent as loud as I expected but they get the point across very clearly.
I've had these for only a little while now, but I love them. They are very loud when played open or half-open. The closed sound is nice, but there are better sounding hats for closed sounds. These hats are great for hard-hitters because they're very heavy. If you're looking for loud, heavy duty hi-hats, get these.
I just recorded an album with these and they sound so much better than the ZXT's I had. They are definitely worth the price. Only thing is I don't really like its open sound. But half open it sounds really sweet and thats really the only way I use it.
They have a nice crisp sound. They can really take a beating. They last a very long time.
These are not worth the price at all. I was beginning to wonder why I didn't know any body who owned a pair of these. I tried the Z custom mastersounds at a local shop today and I was very disappointed. They are way to heavy to be hihats. Go with the A Custom Maastersounds instead. They are brigher, full bodied, and have a way better chick and wash sound than the Z customs. If you like Z Customs, get the megabell ride, and Crashes, but not these hihats!
These Mastersounds are very study yet agile enough to perform many complex manuevers. Fits prefectly with my style; hard hitting and definite!!
