Alright, heres the thing with the Medium Crash. Because the edge is tapered more than other Z Custom crashes, it allows for a faster response. This gives the cymbal a very unique sound. However, since Z Customs are designed to played in heavy music (by heavy-hitting drummers) this cymbal doesnt seem to make sense. Dont get me wrong, I love the sound, but Ive cracked 2 of these cymbals within the last 2 years. The first was covered under a Manufacturers warranty, but the replacement isnt. Regardless (and possibly fool-heartedly) im planning on buying a new one within the next week. Why? Because it sounds THAT good. If youre looking for a great sounding, explosive cymbal to add to your lineup, I would highly recomend this cymbal. Just dont use it as your primary crash (ie: riding on the edge) unless you can afford buying a new one within the next year. ROCK ON !!!

This is a terrible cymbal. It's heavy and has a full-bodied sound, I'll give it that, but it still sounds awful. It really just sounds like hitting the lid of a trash can. No tone, no sound, just noise. And you better have good, sturdy sticks or you're going to spend a ton on replacing them. Overall I cannot recommend this unless you need something for heavy metal/punk etc. that will be used for very loud music. Even then, you have much better choices. Otherwise, avoid this crash.

It is really loud and has a nice tone to it. It can cut through any noise to make a very nice effect to your songs or any playing.
i own the 16". it's a very solid, brighter, but not too bright, sounding cymbal. i play rock-jazz-blues-and everything in between. very loud, but sounds excellent when hit softly. i would recommend this or the A Custom crashes. either is a great buy.
I bought the eighteen inch model of this crash a couple months ago and was pleasantly surprised. I am playing in a ban now that plays mainly hardcore and thrash metal, so I needed a cymbal that would be able to cut through my band mates wailing guitars and screams. I wasn't prepared for the versatility though. I expected it to be, like many Z customs, not good for much other than metal, but this cymbal is a fine crash for all sorts of music. The crash cuts through nicely, but still has a fairly fast decay so it will work for jazz or fusion very well.
I bought a 16" crash a while ago, and it has never fail me. I also have 18" and 20" crashes, which are also amazing. i just ordered a 19", and I plan on getting a 17" in the near future. these crashes are the perfect cymbals for hard hitters! i just wish there was more different types of the z custom crashes, because i'm going to run out of crashes. haha. the only downfall is the price.. their so darn expensive. but its well worth your money, trust me.
i got the cymbal a month ago and it is great.I hit hard and its very durable.also the price is awsome for a z custom.
I play the crashes and so do a couple of my buddies in other bands... and WOW do they cut through the guitars and vocals. It's a #1 choice for a crash cymbal!
Well, I'm on here today to buy a new one, (my old one just cracked, but it served it's time... almost 2 years, and I play HARD and LOUD.) and usually when I crack one cymbal, I buy a different kind to experiment. not this time. I'm stickin with the good old 18" medium. That baby is LOUD, my guitarists and bassist hate practicing in the same room as me!! :P It's great for heavy rock and metal, but you can use it for almost anything you want. (I would also recommend the Z Custom Power Ride!) And it has a very distinct and unique sound to it. (You can tell its a Z custom) Overall, great product from a great company. THANK YOU, ZILDJIAN!!!
well i must say this is a beautiful cymbal. It full and has a bright sound. I love it to death its hands down my favorite cymbal i have bought, but it dose have a down fall. It cracks so easy ud think cause it was preaty thick it could hold up to heavy abuse? guess again! lol I had it for 10 months and it cracked, then i bough another one it did the say think so if ur a hard hitter id chose another cymbal, but its just a fantastic cymbal for sound and it is so freaking loud!
i bought the 16" and 17" and was amazed by how they speak. I have a lot of unmiced gigs and these are perfect. One thing i bought a 18" recently to go with the 16 and 17 and it sounds different, its thicker and sounds more gongy and low. So my advice is aviod the 18".
This is a pretty nice cymbal you have to be careful with hard hitting though, but it does sound good when you are playing a rock tune, but its also cool cause you can play something more mellow and jazzy and still get a good sound out of this cymbal, i recomend this cymbal to anyone it is versitile but you gotta be careful if you are a hard hitter.
