Alright, heres the thing with the Medium Crash. Because the edge is tapered more than other Z Custom crashes, it allows for a faster response. This gives the cymbal a very unique sound. However, since Z Customs are designed to played in heavy music (by heavy-hitting drummers) this cymbal doesnt seem to make sense. Dont get me wrong, I love the sound, but Ive cracked 2 of these cymbals within the last 2 years. The first was covered under a Manufacturers warranty, but the replacement isnt. Regardless (and possibly fool-heartedly) im planning on buying a new one within the next week. Why? Because it sounds THAT good. If youre looking for a great sounding, explosive cymbal to add to your lineup, I would highly recomend this cymbal. Just dont use it as your primary crash (ie: riding on the edge) unless you can afford buying a new one within the next year. ROCK ON !!!

This is a terrible cymbal. It's heavy and has a full-bodied sound, I'll give it that, but it still sounds awful. It really just sounds like hitting the lid of a trash can. No tone, no sound, just noise. And you better have good, sturdy sticks or you're going to spend a ton on replacing them. Overall I cannot recommend this unless you need something for heavy metal/punk etc. that will be used for very loud music. Even then, you have much better choices. Otherwise, avoid this crash.

Just Okay

By weed_jrs-FJvRf

i have had this cymbal for less than a year and i admit that i liked it but it cracked around the outside. i was not happy. i thought this was supposed to be a durable cymbal but maybe i just got a lemon. good except i hope others last longer.

sounds pretty...

By Brenner

Sounds great as a crash and even better when used as a ride during very heavy/breakdown parts. Don't buy it if you aren't playing heavy music. Durability is okay, but not great. Mine cracked 13 months after purchase. I did beat it a lot, but I still expected it to outlive it's warranty by more than a month. I think I'll try something else (i.e. something cheaper) to replace it.

great crash for metal

By Anonymous

This cymbal has an aggressive piercing sound that will make you and your bandmates deaf! I doubt if this cymbal matches with softer mellow music, but one thing for sure, this suits metal very well.

WORTH IT

Yes these cymbals are pricey but they are worth it. They're thick which is important for hard hitters like me and they have a full (loud) tone. I own the 16" 17" and 18" and I love all of them.

INTENSE

This thing is the most powerful instrument I've ever used. It's response is very crisp and bright. It must be struck at full power just to obtain the maximum sound. If your band doesn't have high amp wattage or earmuffs I wouldn't reccomend it.

no too bad

By Kill tomorrow

I bought the 18" about 3 years ago. I have had to send back once, about a year ago, to get it replaced because it cracked in the middle. And now that one has recently cracked in the middle. Overall it is a decent cymbal and it has a great sound for metal. I play hard but I have had cymbals last longer.

Amazed

By Lux Lucris Talos

from Goodrich, MI

This cymbal is by far the loudest, most versatile cymbal I have. I own some A Customs and other Zildjians, but this blew me away. The cymbal is well worth the money as it makes an excellent ride with nice sustain. The overtones are very melodic, and can cut threw any guitar. The 16" is the one I own, but I am planning on buying more. Two Thumbs Way UP.

Awesome Cymbal!!!!!

By OscarTehGrouch

from Chocolate Rain

Well, I'm on here today to buy a new one, (my old one just cracked, but it served it's time... almost 2 years, and I play HARD and LOUD.) and usually when I crack one cymbal, I buy a different kind to experiment. not this time. I'm stickin with the good old 18" medium. That baby is LOUD, my guitarists and bassist hate practicing in the same room as me!! :P It's great for heavy rock and metal, but you can use it for almost anything you want. (I would also recommend the Z Custom Power Ride!) And it has a very distinct and unique sound to it. (You can tell its a Z custom) Overall, great product from a great company. THANK YOU, ZILDJIAN!!!

I recently got the 17" Z Custom Medium crash and it is my first zildian crash. I am planning to buy another one! Very good cymbal for many different types of heavy music. I am in a band, so I needed a cymbal to break through the mix, and that's just what I got. I'm sure I will love the next one I buy.
