I bought this about three months ago. This thing is freaking loud! I love it. This cymbal is awesome if you like loud, cutting, and bright. It's super thick, I don't think I could crack this thing if I beat it with an aluminum baseball bat. I was always looking for a bright, cutting, big bell, and this bell is amazing, with a great body too. Needless to say, you could not crash on this thing. The only other thing I could say may be a problem is I have this and some Zildjian K Cusom cymbals, and it has no chemistry, also the volume of the cymbals are all too different. I ended up getting more Z Customs to even it out. But if you want a tip, the Z custom Zildjians go well with the A custom Zildjians if you dont like the crashes, splashes, hi-hats, etc. that Z custom Zildjians have to offer.

I owned this ride for about 4 years, and I've played in everyhing from heavy metal to praise and worship. It is a one trick pony. Very loud and very unarticulated in the bell. The only way to get a good ping is by flirting with the bell on the side of your stick, otherwise its a pang. Extremly long sustain, and is very harsh when crashed. and EXTREMLY heavy, it tore my tuxedo case in half. I have an AAX stage ride and I love it. It is very versatile and sounds amazing and no where near as heavy. check it out.

Decent, but limited

Well, this cymbal IS what it claims to be. It possesses very good stick definition, is loud, and in a heavy rock/noize/chaos setting it will cut through, no doubt. Its tone is pretty decent. But one can't coax a whole lot of variation out of it... it isn't a nuanced ride. Also, I agree w/ others, the bell should produce a better tone than it does. Looks hecka cool. just bend at the waist when you pick it up, to avoid a hernia.

I like the sound for riding but if you want to crash on it, it doesn't sound very good.

Zildjian Z Custom Ride (20

I own this cymbal and it is currently in my setup. It has a very nice sound and tone to it and is extremely heavy and durable. It cuts through very well in a very loud band. I would buy this cymbal again if I had to, but I don't think it could even break if I dropped it from a two or three story building...it is that durable.

this ride is so good. the stick definition is amazing. I bought an a custom 22" ride as well, expecting it to have even better stick definition, but the z custom put it to shame. this cymbal is awesome.

Awesome volume and great stick definition! It works great with other z customs and bigger or heavier crashes. Very loud ping!

I got the 20" about a year ago and I was impressed. It's great for anything thats not Jazz basically. If you want something for Jazz and Rock look into the A Custom.

Great Ride Cymbal

By Hott Toddy

Has a very unique sound any way you hit it - a hard pang sound from the bell, a loud, high-pitched, defined sound when used as a crash-ride, and a wonderfully smooth normal ride sound - not too light and not too dark. I learned after I bought mine that the 20" is used by Staind's drummer - a sure sign that you can count on these.

good for playing loud

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

i got this ride about a week ago, and it's awesome for playing loud and fast. but i was a little disappointed because its definitely not a ride you can use as a "ride". when played lightly it's not soft and articulate and it rings a whole lot. but it's very durable, and sounds great when played loudly.
