I?ve played drums on and off for the last 17 years. I became very active again in the last six months, having multiple rehearsals a week with my band and playing several gigs a month. All of my equipment was old and worn out and I really wanted a nice looking set of matched cymbals. I bought a ZBT pack, as it was the only thing in my price range. I liked the hi-hats and was o.k. with the ride, but HATED the crashes. They sounded WAY TOO bright and ?ringy??at first. Once I played with them for a while though, I thought they really sounded great! I suggest playing around with them a bit; adjust the height and the angle you set them at and trying striking different areas, and you?ll find that ?sweet spot?. Plus, the more you handle them the more natural oils you?ll transfer over to them, giving it some nice ?build up?. I read a lot of complaints about breakage, and I was pretty surprised! I?m not the softest hitter myself, and these suckers take it. Zildjian has these listed as ?medium/thin? (which most of Zildjian?s products are). I would say they?re really more ?medium? weight compared to other Zildjian?s I?ve played, and if that?s still not heavy enough for you get the ZBT Rock series which are a little heavier?if you?re still breaking cymbals after that, you?re pretty much screwed because you?ll need to put out some MAJOR CASH for the Z3s, which are the only cymbals that are heavier?or go back to ?drummer school?, because obviously you?re technique SUCKS! Anyway, these are great starter or intermediate cymbals with a wide sound range, and are a great deal for the money! The more you play with them the better they?ll sound?but, if you?re looking for a very specific sound, you should shop around and be prepared to put out some more cash ;)

I got the 14'' and 16'' plus a ZBT 18'' ride in a cymbal pack back in 2007 and played them as I learned more about drumming up until this year when the 14'' finally cracked.

Now, I had played these for fives years while growing as a drummer, also developing a style and playing in bands. These days, I hit A LOT harder than I used to and that is probably a good reason for the crack. My first 14'' cracked in early this year and I order another from Musicians Friend a few months back and I already have a crack in it.

As far as sound goes, I love it. It works perfectly for what I like to play. I usually use it as a sort of crash ride, playing on it during chorus'. Typical in a rock/metal song. It works really well with that for me.

But if you a hard hitter like I am, it becomes a problem when it cracks often.

It's not durable but it sounds great. It's hard to choose. All in all, I'd probably recommend it but I plan on trying to find a new option when I'm through with it.

Also I should mention, my 16'' is not played as often as my 14'' and it is doing fine and has been for 5 years.

Not bad!

By Eric Johnson

from Undisclosed

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Crash Cymbal:

This crash is better than I expected after reading reviews and glancing at the price. I would reccomend it to almost any novice drummer (such as myself).
I've had this cymbal since Christmas last year and it has not been damaged. It does get marked up easily though.
I bought this cymbal because it was one of the cheapest Zildjian crash's I could find. I'm very impressed with it for what I spent on it.

Crash is Good

By Timothy Bjorman

from Vacaville, Ca

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Crash Cymbal:

This crash is significantly good. Have had it for almost a year and it still does well. Sounds good and looks good. Needs to have larger size because i'm picky but good. It's cheap and effective for begginers or poor people like me. So, if you can't get what you really want then settling for this crash won't hurt you in the slightest.

Just used my ZBT Crash Cymbal

By Roger Fink

from New York State

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Crash Cymbal:

Used the 14"crash for the first time last nite at a bar gig playing Classic Rock. Good initial sound when hitting the cymbal but fades quickly which is what I was looking for. Nice product in the lower price range of cymbals.

Good enough for beginners, and low budget

    By Ramsel Jorge

    from Puerto Rico

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Crash Cymbal:

I've got this cymbal as a bonus on a ZBT cymbal pack I bought. Like many others that bought this I was in a tight budget so I had to settle for ZBT's. Overall is a pretty good cymbal for the price, but doesn't hold up very well to hard hitters. I dont consider myself that of a heavy drummer but it still cracked after a couple of months, kind of disappointed. Sent the cymbal to Zildjian for the warranty, hope they can replace it.
It inclines to be more like a splash than a crash cymbal, still, good sound.
I bought this cymbal in January and by October it cracked; won't recommend to heavy, hard hitter drummers.
For the price it is a nice cymbal, and it sounds better than I expected.

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Crash Cymbal:

I decided to buy the 16 and 18 inch crash cymbals because 1: i needed new crashes, and 2: I heard mixed reviews so i wanted to try them for myself. Right out of the gate the 18 sounds HORRIBLE. its so high pitched for an 18 inch. the 16 however sounded pretty good, that is, until it started to crack after about a year and a half. so all in all i would buy this maybe in a pinch, but if youre looking for a long term use cymbal, save up your money for something better.

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Crash Cymbal:

This was a replacement for the exact same cymbal I use during rehearsal. The other cymbal cracked after a little more than a year of use, during which we typically rehearse twice a week. Although I'm playing hard rock and have become a heavy hitter, we don't typically go all out. But, you get what you pay for.

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Crash Cymbal:

Zildjian ZBT crash cymbals sound great; they have a crisp and professional sound to them. However, if you have a hard rock or heavy metal playing style, these cymbals probably shouldn't be your first choice as they tend to crack after only a few months of hard hitting. I bought two 16' and three 14' of these cymbals a few years ago and all five of them cracked and became useless after about four months of use (I did practice about an hour or two every day). I bought two more of these just recently though as a band I currently play drums in was going into the recording studio to record an EP. These cymbals have the perfect sound for whatever style of music you may play, especially in the recording studio.

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Crash Cymbal:

I had another 14" ZBT crash I got back in 2009 in my first cymbal pack, it actually sounded really good and I continued to be impressed by it for 7 years until it finally cracked. I bought a new one to replace it because it's inexpensive and I really liked my original. The new one isn't as full of a crash but I would still recommend this line of cymbals for beginners or drummers on a budget. Very good for the price range :)
