Diverse sounds from a single cymbal. A great all-purpose ride!

Sound grooves and round hammer strikes in a simple circular pattern on the top surface of ZBT cymbals magnify the basic sound of the distinctive ZBT alloy. The ZBT Crash Ride delivers a cutting ride sound with good crash qualities.

The bright, intense, high-pitched sound of the Zildjian ZBT series cymbals cuts through the mix of other instruments. Sheet origin and precision lathing techniques create high-volume projection that speaks quickly and brightly with a rapid decay. Since ZBT cymbals are pressed and lathed from sheets of uniform, high-quality bronze alloy, they are remarkably consistent. The highly polished, brilliant finish looks fresh. Superb all-purpose crash ride cymbal. Excellent, clean stick articulation with controlled overtones. ZBT-Plus cymbals take Zildjian Bronze Technology up a notch with advanced hammering and lathing, and enhanced sound for versatility, musicality, and professional performance.

This was my first cymbal upgrade from the no-names, which came w/ my set. Some people deride the ZBT's, but c'mon, for the $ they are pretty darn good. I have since upgraded twice more, and the ZBT Crash Ride is still sticking around. Personally, I like it as a ride more than a crash. I find it hummmms when I crash it. The bell is very, very nicely toned and it cuts well. As a ride, it is a pretty washy ride and kinda light pitched, but the sticking does cut thru; for the music I play (Jazz, Latin, Funky, Acoustic Rock) it's really appropriate; and actually, more expensive cymbals cannot match the jazzy swwwissssshhhhhh of this one... believe me, I've looked. So, you gotta give it some credit. Pretty cool looking, too.

I own the 18 inch version and honestly, I don't like it. I find this cymbal very unmusical. It never sounded remotely like a ride. For both ride and crashing it was too washy always ringing out with overtones which I hate. This is a loud cymbal, but not in a good way. When you record it, it mostly picks up the ugly overtones no matter how you mic it and only blends remotely well if you have other sheet bronze cymbals with it. It only sounds acceptable in a rock context but it the sound would offend even a punk rocker who didn't know anything about cymbal tone. What's more, is that it breaks easily. I've owned this cymbal for 3 months. By the 2nd month, it had 3 cracks in it. The cracks were small so I thought I'd still bring it out once in awhile. But one day on the 3rd month i played it and crack grew so big and warped that it keeps the cymbal from ringing out at all. I'm better off hitting a bucket than this cymbal now. Save up for cast bronze cymbals. Sheet bronze is too malleable of an alloy and any sheet bronze cymbal you buy will dent or crack much more easily. I've replaced this with a 20 inch Sabian Metal X Crash and I'm extremely satisfied.

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Crash Ride Cymbal:

Got this cause I am now trying to have 3 crashes on my kit. Saw the cheaper price so I'm like, "Sweet! A 2 in 1 deal!" Not the case here folks. This cymbal may look like a beauty, but looks are also deceiving. As soon as I crashed during a test, it overtoned way too long, so classifying this cymbal as a crash is out. As a ride, all I hear is a bunch of buzzing noises. When I use a ride cymbal, I expect a rich sound that can sustain for some time, but this is just trash. Don't buy ZBT cymbals. Save for ZHT instead cause those are actually a lot better and still cheaper.

If your used to higher end cymbals you will be very disappointed with this one. Just does not have a nice warm tone. Loud and annoying.

            Great Cymbal

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Crash Ride Cymbal:

This a good cymbal overall. However, if you are a rock or metal drummer, this cymbal is not for you. But for jazz, funk, gospel, even country western drummers, this is a very nice cymbal
Great sounding crash and nice bell sound as well
Definately worth the money in my opinion

i really liked the sound of this cymbal as a crash, not so much as a ride. i have had this for 3 months and it is already has a huge crack up half of the cymbal, kind of pisses me off. would be a great cymbal if it was thicker...

            Great value, decent cymbal

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Crash Ride Cymbal:

I got this in the ZBT box pack thing (18") when I was starting out about 3 years ago. I used it as a ride at that point because I didn't have a real one yet. I didn't really sound good there and eventually I bought the ZHT pack and moved this cymbal to use as a second crash and crash ride and it sounds damn good there for me. I like the brightness coupled with the aggression you can get out of it. This is my favorite cymbal I've ever had so far. However last year, it got a small crack in it which is to be expected from a sheet cymbal. I'm strongly considering buying another 18" one. A great value and decent enough cymbal for the price.

            Destroyed This Thing

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Crash Ride Cymbal:

this cymbal would be a great crash, but there is no point in using it as a ride, because i took literally a 5 inch chunck out of the side of this thing. it could be my fault, because I hit VERY hard, but for how broken it is, its unusual. But if you use it as a crash, it should sound great

            Great Crash, Bad Ride

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Crash Ride Cymbal:

THis cymbal rules as a crash but is WAAAYYY to thin to be a ride. It works amazing as a crash. It works for all styles, and it sounds just like john bonhams main crash on Led Zeppelin IV, great crash cymbal bad ride

            Pretty good

            By Prophets of Exile

            from Queen Creek, AZ

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Crash Ride Cymbal:

This was my first good cymbal and it held up for nearly 3 years. I hit pretty hard too. But now it is cracking in 3 different spots, so it's time to buy a new one. It is a really good cymbal if you need something that is cheep and will last a long time. I highly recommend this to beginning drummer or someone who needs a cheep cymbal quick

            Good Crash

            By JJ1hFDIL0

            from San Francisco, California

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Crash Ride Cymbal:

I got this cymbal with my drum kit. I've had this cymbal for about 2 and its turned out to be a pretty good cymbal. It shouldn't be used as a ride though because it just doesn't have a good ping that I want. The bell rings out too long and doesn't sound good. But it is a pretty good crash. I still haven't gotten rid of it but am looking to. Good crash but it still rings out a little too long not bad like how a ride cymbal rings but just a little. You can really smash on it and it sounds good. Its a good beginner cymbal and good if you are REALLY tight on money. But if you could, maybe save up for a ZHT or A series.
