      OVERVIEW

A brilliant, fundamental hi-hat pair for the beginner. A great all-purpose ride!

Sound grooves and round hammer strikes in a simple circular pattern on the top surface of ZBT cymbals magnify the basic sound of the distinctive ZBT alloy. The ZBT Hi-Hat Pair produces a sharp and focused sound with an excellent, bright "chick."

The bright, intense, high-pitched sound of the Zildjian ZBT series cymbals cuts through the mix of other instruments. Sheet origin and precision lathing techniques create high-volume projection that speaks quickly and brightly with a rapid decay. Since ZBT cymbals are pressed and lathed from sheets of uniform, high-quality bronze alloy, they are remarkably consistent. The highly polished, brilliant finish looks fresh. Superb all-purpose ride cymbal. Excellent, clean stick articulation with controlled overtones. ZBT-Plus cymbals take Zildjian Bronze Technology up a notch with advanced hammering and lathing, and enhanced sound for versatility, musicality, and professional performance.

I got a 13" set of these used, although they are the "newest" version available as of 2014, with the cursive lettering and updating lathing. I got these just to use with my "beater" kit at my rehearsal space. I don't want to keep my "good" kits and cymbals at my rehearsal space, so I use entry level stuff just for practice. Considering that was my motive for getting these hats, they far exceeded my expectations!

First off, let's take this in context. These are not B20 alloy cymbals that are cast. These are B8 or B10 sheet bronze cymbals. Of course, they are not going to have the tonal complexity or darker overtones of cast or hand hammered B20 cymbals. They simply can't. However, for what these cymbals are, they sound WAY better than I was expecting. The hats have a nice crisp sound, and every stick note is clear and succinct. Those have a nice, solid "open and closed" sound, such as when you play the classic jazz swing pattern on them, opening them on 1 and 3 (tie-yup/ta-tie yup). The "chick" sound with the foot is very strong. As clear and crisp as all of these patterns are, they are never overpowering. The higher pitch of the 13" also cuts through a little better. As I stated before, these don't have the complexity or some of the subtleness that my more expensive hats do, but they are not designed to be that way. These are really an excellent all around set of hi-hats that will suit many different genres just fine. I have actually used them on a couple of live gigs just to hear how they performed. I was very pleased with the results! I record every gig, and they blended very nice with the rest of the kit and band. Clear and concise, but not overpowering. Just right! I even had another drummer specifically ask me what hi-hats I was using, because they sounded "great" to him. Needless to say, he was amazed when I told him they were ZBT's. These newer ZBT's are very well made, and sound excellent for "entry level" cymbals.

Thes hats suck. great for beginners, but if you want more tone, and better quality, thes are not for you. I got them when I started getting sereous about drums, I had them for about 3 1/2 years befor I moved on. Dont get me wrong, their good hats, just not for the extercend drumer that does live showes. that just dont sound concert worthy, and thats what im lookin for. If your just startin out, these are great to get cuz you can learn on a set that doesnt break your bank. As for me, Im with the zildjian hybrids. They're amasing!

Open, it sounds very good. I don't think they are that durable.. I have a LOT of them cracked up and my top hi-hat has many cracks. It's pretty good for a while, it does the job for a while...

        ZBT Hi-Hats

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Hi-Hat Cymbal Pair:

I will admit These Hi-Hats are not the best and do start to crack after about a year of heavy hitting, but for the price there not all that bad. I mostly play metal and punk so I play with my hi-hats open and these sound pretty good like that, closed not so much. (I would recommend these to beginners through moderate drummers)

        ZIldjian ZBT 13" Hi Hats

        By

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Hi-Hat Cymbal Pair:

I got a pair of 13" ones in a box set and I've never really liked them. The closed sound is decent when I hit it with the bead, but the when you hit the edge the sound is really sloppy and clangy. The open sound is decent and cuts thorugh pretty well. I was getting used to them but after about a year of hard playing, two cracks formed on the top cymbal. Don't learn the hard way like I did and get cheap cymbals the won't last; you can get used, top-of-the-line cymbals for a little bit more that will last forever.

for the price.... they do the job

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Hi-Hat Cymbal Pair:

These hats do the job....I guess. They sound like big tambourine discs. They are a little too bright for my taste. But if you are on a budget these are number one. They don't record well, but you'll have a hard time telling differences in a live situation from higher quality cymbals.

Perfect for beginners, and low cut budgets.

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Hi-Hat Cymbal Pair:

Over all i give this a 9 out of 10 because really delivers in its features and value but solo sound it sound really thick.
I give this a full rating because for features because its exactly what it says it is a hi-hat pair equiped with a decent stand(sold seperatly) very quick set up and playing.
I give this less then a full rating for quality because it delivers a cutting sound that lets you be heard while playing with a band but when your playing a cover or just practicing solo you can hear that its thick.
I give this a full rating for value because its the lowest grade series by its manufacture so of course it going to be cheap. But for the quality its deffinatly a good value.

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Hi-Hat Cymbal Pair:

These hi-hats are great for practice, and if your on a low budget. But if plying in studio or in concert, I would not go for these hi-hats. It sounds great open, but closed just sounds really doll. Sounds like your just hitting a pice of metal. But other than that its good. I would prefer these to only beginners.

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Hi-Hat Cymbal Pair:

Musicians Friend sold this also through Amazon. Amazon messed up the order, but Musicians Friend made it right. You guys are the best. And the cymbals are pretty nice also. Not near the quality of my vintage Zildjians but a good deal for the price

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Hi-Hat Cymbal Pair:

This was amongst the first cymbals I ever owned. It's a solid beginner cymbal, for sure, but once you get going, it only holds you down. It is EXTREMELY loud for a high hat. When closed, it gives a nice chick sound, but when it's open, it drowns out the rest of my set. The best thing about the cymbal, though, is its durability. I got them slightly used 3 years ago, and they just cracked 3 days ago. Overall, you pay for what you get: an average cymbal.

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Hi-Hat Cymbal Pair:

I've had these hi-hats in 13" for almost 4 years now and I still use them! They're just the right sound for hi hats no matter what your genre. They're not dull at all, not super crisp, but still very good starter hats.
