OVERVIEW

Precise ride tones and dynamics for less. A great all-purpose ride!

Sound grooves and round hammer strikes in a simple circular pattern on the top surface of ZBT cymbals magnify the basic sound of the distinctive ZBT alloy. The ZBT Ride delivers a medium high-pitched tone with precise, clean stick definition.

The bright, intense, high-pitched sound of the ZBT series cymbals cuts through the mix of other instruments. Sheet origin and precision lathing techniques create high-volume projection that speaks quickly and brightly with a rapid decay. Since ZBT cymbals are pressed and lathed from sheets of uniform, high-quality bronze alloy, they are remarkably consistent. The highly polished, brilliant finish looks fresh. Superb all-purpose ride cymbal. Excellent, clean stick articulation with controlled overtones. ZBT-Plus cymbals take Zildjian Bronze Technology up a notch with advanced hammering and lathing, and enhanced sound for versatility, musicality, and professional performance.

For the record I've played professionally (weekends) for 40 some years, but have never been "gear snob" and to like to find playable gear at reasonable prices. In recent years I've seen a significant rise in quality in lower priced items.

While this ride is low in price I find that it is quite playable. It Is a musical instrument and as such can be reflective of the skill of the player. If one bangs the bejeebuz out of it, it will sound pretty unpleasant and trashy. I find it plays best with a llighter touch. I find the ping to be pleasant, higher pitched, and it will still cut and be heard. Keeping the touch light keeps the wash and excessive ringing down. As others have pointed out, it can get a little ringier and washier than a pricier cymbal, but it's controllable with that lighter touch, or some strategically placed gaff tape. I prefer not to do that (tape) myself.

I like the bell...I play it with the butt end and hit harder to get a cowbell clang. It's not subtle in that regard, but that's the way (uh-huh) I like it. Playing it softer gives me a decent bell sound. I use the bells of my other cymbals for some variety.

It records well for me. The higher pitched ping Is my personal preference and it works well for the 50's, 60's and surf rock tunes that I like to record.

Bottom line...of course there are better cymbals that cost more. This ride can be clangy and ringy if you are heavy handed, but it is pleasant and usable with a lighter touch. The tone is brighter than some may prefer. But overall I like it a lot, which was a surprise given the cost. I'd certainly recommend it for a beginner on a budget, and for an experienced player to add variety to his or her cymbal mix.

Hey guys. Ive had this cymbal scince had a different logo, the first zbt logo. This cymbal is ONLY for beginners. It has no stick definition and a really bad ping. It rings alot and after lots of hitting and just sounds really ugly. Instead, try a cheap Meinl HCS of a Sabian if your on a budget. Or, go to Zildjian.com and look for one. There are tabs that have a recording of a quick preview of what it sounds like so theres not any guesswork. If your not on a budget get A Customs.Overall just a bad ride cymbal. There's just no sound definition.

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Ride Cymbal:

This ride cymbal is an absolute piece of scrap metal. The sustain in this thing lasts like 10 seconds of a gentle hit, and is all ugly overtones. The bell sounds like a cheap cowbell. Don't even thing of crashing it, unless you want to give yourself a case of premature hearing impairment. Even the Paiste 101 ride is better than this.

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Ride Cymbal:

This cymbal is horrible. You could strike it, leave the room for a drink, come back and the thing will still be vibrating! The bell is just as bad, with overtones that are just painful to listen to! Look towards Paiste for a decent beginner ride!

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Ride Cymbal:

I am an experienced musician who is a "new" drummer. I have band rehearsals at my home weekly and wanted my own set 24/7. I bought a good used set that needed a 20" ride. The Zildjian ZBT 20" Ride fills the bill for a good - sounding cymbal at a reasonable price. You could spend more and get more, but this is high quality that won't break the bank.

        Service and delivery comments:

The stand for this cymbal was on Special discount. My sales associate was able to discount the cymbal as well. I was very pleased.

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Ride Cymbal:

This cymbal definately has more wash than ping, better suited for jazz than rock. To take away the overtones on I put about a 3" long piece of aluminum tape on the bottom of it and it definately helped take away alot of the wash. It is still not the pingiest but is better plus it helps with the overtones. The bell is nice and loud and cutting. Worth the money you will spend for it. I compared this cymbal to the Paiste 502 in the store and preffered this cymbal over the Paiste.

I have had this cymbal for almost three years. When I got it, I thought it was the most amazing thing ever. Now I realize what it is. It is great for beginers, but as a started playing more, I realized that it wasnt that great, compared to a Zcustom. I just craked it today though it did it job for three years. If you can do it though, go for a z or a custom. Theyre amazing.

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Ride Cymbal:

I have used this ride on my church's set, and it was pretty good. It doesn't compare to the Sabian B8 ride-if you're thinking about getting the ZBT, get the B8 instead, seriously-The B8 only costs a little bid more but it's extremly worth it. If you have enough $$, go for the Sabian AAX, or Zildjian K custom-much better quality-you won't be disapointed with those. The ZBT ride has an okay ride sound, but has alot of ring. It has a good bell, nice and loud but still alot of ring. Overall, not that bad, but you should get something better.

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Ride Cymbal:

I got this ride in a box set with hihats and a crash (which i wrecked :] ). At first it is a great ride- Pretty pingy, high pitched, good bell, and it even made a great crash, but after a few years, mine started cracking in several different places. eventually one of the cracks snaked around and made a circle and a piece of metal came out. ever since its been dark and sizzly. I use it sparingly when i play death metal now, but I dont use it in my hardcore band. If you don't hit that hard, this may be the cymbal for you, but if you do, save up for a cast cymbal my friend.

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Ride Cymbal:

I play blues and R&B/Rockabilly....this cymbal is really loud and a heavyweight. It seems as if its better suited as a crash/ride than a strict ride cymbal. I blast it pretty hard....it has a lot of overtone. The bell is very loud though...if played up closer to the bell it has a better ping sound. Down near the edge of the cymbal its more crash/ride.....not too bad overall for the money.

This ride is not bad. I Have the zbt pack with the china cymbol. If you can get like a 21" or 22" that would be awsome. It rings out a lot which is cool for some styles but, is not so hot for softer things. The bell is not bad for a cheap ride. Save your money and go with sabians.

this cymbal sucks! the bell by itself is okay, although not very clean. The rest of the cymbal is useless- after hitting just twice, you've already produced enough over/undertones to block out any further hits. don't get it- spends a few extra dollars and get something good.

Nice sound when played lightly, I got this used and it sure does hold up well after a lot of playing. Very ringy though, especially when playing fast or hard on it. The bell isn't particularly good either, but it suits my needs until my budget increases.

i Love the sound of the actuall cymbal, but the bell is a little off. the ring is kinda bad too. but its sound on continual licks and drags is incredible. and sounds well with the standard crash that comes with a tko percussion 420 kit

This cymbal just doesn't sound that great.. it works, i own one, but it is very loud and ringy. our youth group upgraded to zxt cymbals and just that small jump in price/quality made a big/amazing difference in sound(same with hi hats and crashes).. i would not go cheaper than the zxt's... i think in the long run you'll just end up regretting not paying the extra for something that sounds better than this low grade line of cymbals..

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Ride Cymbal:

This cymbal has a tendency to hang just a bit longer than usual, but if you're on a budget, I would recommend it. The bell is good. This is far and away better than the competion in the same price range. I've been a drummer for a long, long time, and even though this is considered good for beginners, it will perform well in the studio. also, it won't break you. You won't be ashamed of performing with this. Zildjians are good cymbals, these ZBT's are a lot better than a lot of the exspensive cymbals I had to use thirty years ago.I use ZXT's, along with Titaniums, and still incorporate ZBT's into my kit.
