I got this cymbal simply because i was in dire need of a new crash. My parents went out looking just for something for me to have to hit and they came back with a used 16 inch, reluctant playing a used cymbal (used cymbals are usually beat to death already...) i threw it on and i was just about shocked playing with it. It's got a nice higher pitched tone for those who like a glassy cymbal, and it doesn't ring out for the fallowing hour. I've been playing it for a few months now and still, no breaks, tears, dents or shreds. This cymbal WILL outlast anything else for the price. (P.S. ... i hit really hard...)

Not a good cymbal. I use mainly ZBTs and ZHT and I would choose those any day over my 18" ZXT. I hate the thing. It SERIOUSLY SOUNDS LIKE THE ZBT RIDE. the ZXT is way too heavy and you have to hit it really hard to get any sizzle out of it. I'm a fairly hard player, considering I've cracked a 16" ZBT and a ZHT from hitting too hard, but this thing is a manhole cover. Not very proud of Zildjian on this one. I do not recommend this to anyone. Get a 16" ZHT crash, it's dark enough, but has the projection and power.

As a crash it's ok. As a second, brighter ride it is fantastic. Nice higher pitched ride sound. Not that it doesn't crash well but I have other cymbals that crash better but those crashes don't sound nearly as good as this one when you're riding it.

I'm from the 50- 60s era a lot of attention given to cymbal and bass drum work. especially Soul and R&B. Which I grew up with, Love the Memphis Sound.
The ZXT Medium-Thin also serves very well as a light ride.

Comments about Zildjian ZXT Medium-Thin Crash Cymbal:

I can't really "treview" this item yet, as I purchased it for a Christmas present for my daughter. I did check it out and I tried it with a few 'hits'. I can say that it is exactly what I was looking for. Already having an 18 inch "ride", I was looking specifically for that nice, splashy "CRASH" cymbal and this one delivers for that purpose. As usual, another winner with Musician's Friend....and at a great price!!!

I got a couple of these as extras to fill out my rack. They blended well and sounded great. I sold most everything to step up to better cymbals. As far as cracking goes, as mentioned in the other reviews, I've never had any crack issues with ANY of my cymbals. Technique people, play with power and confidence, not ur biceps.Great add on cymbals for a good price.Peace and Much Love

I got the 16" with my zxt pro pack, and the first time I hit it I couldn't believe how bad it sounded. It wasn't bright at all, and had a deep gong-like sound to it, and it made the rinky dinky crash/ride that came with my set actually sound good to crash on.

I got the 16" in my ZXT Pro cymbal pack. For the price, this cymbal is definitely a deal. It has a pretty good sound for what you pay. The only problem is that I finally cracked mine. I've had it for about two and a half years though, so it lasted pretty long. I became a lot better drummer and I began hitting harder and that is why the cymbal broke. Overall, a great beginner's crash.

I got a 16" crash for last christmas, at first i wasnt pleased with the very high pitched sound but i came to deal with it. it is also very durable. the only thing that has happened is a miniscule dent in the side becuase i hit it as HARD as i could when i got mad, and there was no change in sound. there is some things wrong with this cymnbal. if you like to ride on your crashes NOT GET THIS CYMBAL...the bell is horrible. when you hit the bell the rest of the cymbal reacts creating major over tones. riding on the normal part of the cymbal also creates high pitched over tones that are very annoying. overall not too bad of a cymbal.

I love Zildjian, but this cymbal dissapointed me. I barely had it 4 months and it has already cracked. That isn't what dissapointed me most though. This cymal has always had a sucky sound though. It is a little to dark for me. But everyone likes different things this just wasn't for me.

I've been drumming for a couple of years now and I had to decide on some cymbals. Since these were Zildjians, I thought they would sound at least half-decent. Nope. The sound is never consistent and they mark up real easy. Save your money and invest in some real quality Zildjian Cymbals (A series, A Customs, Z Customs, or K's)

This cymbal, even the entire pack isn't bad...I have the pack, the hi hats are nice but are so loud, the ride is really nice sounding, both the ride and hi hats are very strong, I've had the pack for almost 4 years now, no complaints about the hi hats for the ride... but as for the crash, it sounds really nice and really good up until it cracks, which it will if you play hard because it's thin, but it really does have a great sound. These cymbals in the studio sound really nice as well, I'd say these cymbals are worth the money (for the pack), what I did was keep the ride, and hi hats since they're great and just when the crashes cracked, got better cast crashes, A-series, alot stronger.

Comments about Zildjian ZXT Medium-Thin Crash Cymbal:

First of all, this cymbal doesn't sound that bad. A lot of reviewers have said it sounds awful, I think it sounds pretty decent. However, it doesn't sound good enough. For a cymbal this expensive it sounds very dull. My biggest problem with this cymbal, however, and the reason I gave it such a low rating, is that I had it for five months before it cracked. I play fairly hard, but not nearly hard enough that this should have cracked. My suggestion would be to save up money for an Avedis series crash, or if you don't have enough, go with the cheaper ZBT series.
