I don't have anything bad to say about this mic so far. I've had two of these for a few weeks and have used it primarily for PA and talkback in the studio. They have the heft of a 58 that many mics in this price range are lacking and they don't do anything too funky to the sound. I bought them as the 'stupid deal of the day' for [$] each so the only thing that would make me hate these mics is if they didn't work out of the box. I did some research and AKG makes these mics exclusively for musicians friend. I figure they just might be re-branded D88's without the switch, which is a pretty solid low end mic for the money. If anyone knows differently, please enlighten the rest of us!Time will tell the quality of craftsmanship with this unit. So far so good though. If you can't afford a 58 this is a good alternative and if they ever go on sale at [$] apiece again, it's a no brainer. They're worth the money at twice the price, so i bought two.

I was looking for some vocal microphones that were better than the Nady SP-5 microphones that we are using. These were a "Stupid Deal" - so I tried them. VERY sensitive. I could literally scrape my fingernail down the XLR cable and hear the microphone pick it up. I could tap the floow near the stand and have the microphone pick it up. I WOULD NOT recommend these for stand microphones. I am going to fly these above the stage are and use them to pick up sound for concerts and such. That way they can be "isolated" and I won't have to worry about performers and speakers handling the microphones.

Comments about AKG D8000M Dynamic Vocal Microphone:

Surprisingly good quality for the price. Sturdy build. Standard stage vocal mic. Sounds similar to a Shure Beta58a. No real cons to this mic other than it's a bit hot in the upper mids, but many vocal performers would appreciate that on a live stage.

I bought these on a 2 for one sale. I tried them out at practise and they were just fine. good utility mic. Not quite as full as my EV757's but well worth what I paid for them.

Comments about AKG D8000M Dynamic Vocal Microphone:

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this microphone. I got it packaged with my purchase of a TC Helicon vocal pedal as a Musician's Friend's "Free Gift". This microphone truly exceeded any hopes that I had for it. I had read others' reviews that were positive, but I wasn't sold until I hooked it up myself. It has excellent pickup and is very clear. Would definitely recommend it for a practice mic or a "first" vocal gig mic. For the price, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Comments about AKG D8000M Dynamic Vocal Microphone:

Wanted something inexpensive that I could leave up to capture sessions. Using two D8000M's XY here in our home studio, much brighter than the cheap dynamics that I was using for that purpose. So bright that I had to move the XY mount further away from the drums. I bought 4 of them, glad I did. Best purchase I made this year.

Comments about AKG D8000M Dynamic Vocal Microphone:

These mics were the "Stupid Deal of the Day" a while back and I was hesitant to pick them up. It was too good of a deal for them to be worth anything. I read through the reviews and they weren't very good--for vocals. I got to a review in which someone talked about how they would --maybe-- use them as drum mics and I said, "Sold!".

I've now purchased 6 of them and use them exclusively for drums/percussion. I've used them for demos and as live drum mics. Everyone has preferences, but if you're looking for "good enough", these mics fit that description.

For drums, I have two overhead, another catching snare/hi-hat, and another on the kick. The two overhead are panned left and right to get a stereo feel. The hi-hat and kick are panned straight up with some "rough" EQ to pull them out of the mix.

I also use these mics for a cajon, shakers, tambourine, maracas, bongos, etc. and they do the job.

When I'm actually doing more studio-quality recording, I switch to condenser mics. For everything else, these are "good enough".

As for vocals, they're not too bad, though I haven't really tried them. I had an alto singer use one once when she sat in with the band and, actually, it wasn't too bad. It was a live setting so I wasn't expecting much. I've never tried them recording vocals for demos or otherwise.

              Hope this helps!

Comments about AKG D8000M Dynamic Vocal Microphone:

I needed a mic to replace my Shure Beta 58a. Bought this on a whim. Well worth the price. The D8000M represents my natural baritone nicely. Respnds well to nuance and the play of a seasoned performer. Cuts through a loud rock mix, but doesn't sound harsh or unnstural.

It could use a better internal pop filter. And, handling noise going into and out of a mic stand is present, but these are minor complaints that I've had with similar mics at much higher prices.

Nice mic for a bargain price. Well built. Feels substantial. Exceeded my expectations and then some. I chose it over a Neumann KMS105 for rehearsal and a recent live performance. No kidding.

This is a great microphone for backing vocals. It may be sensitive it is great for backing vocal if you leave it on the stand. It is also good for lead vocals if you play an instrument and sing at the same time. Not much of a handheld microphone but overall it's great.
