OVERVIEW

A dedicated mic for guitar cabinets that inherits the guitar-recording legacy of the E609 Silver and legendary MD 409.

The e 606 is the European version of the E609 Silver and identical in every way. Based on the coveted Sennheiser MD 409, the secret weapon of engineers and producers well-versed in heavy guitar recording, the e 606 can handle very high SPLs and is remarkably convenient to use since its side-address capsule lets you hang it right over a guitar cab and sit in the sweet spot.

Comments about Sennheiser E606 Limited Edition Dynamic Guitar Microphone:

Fantastic for recording guitar from and Amp or to Mic the guitar in live shows.

The e606 and e609 are industry standards.

If you buy the e606 be advised it is the Europe version... you will need a cheap adapter for American Mic Stands (Item # H68223000000000).

In our studio we use Shure SM57 or this E606 series for recording guitar cabinets. Both are great and it really depends on the guitarist tone that he/she was looking for.

I suggest using a Tube Preamp (ART Tube MP works great). It will give more sonic possibilities to this Mic (or the Shure SM57).

These mics reject feedback better that the Shure, and work great on stage or in the studio!

Bottom line - A MUST HAVE!

Comments about Sennheiser E606 Limited Edition Dynamic Guitar Microphone:

Been using the e609 version of this mic for many years. Wanted to try the e606 for comparison. Just tracked a rock band with both mics on the guitar cab. The tone and presence is unbelieveable. Clear sound that cuts through the mix. The band was exstatic about the sound quality.

For around the same range as an SM57, this mic has proven to sound better than one on all of the amplified guitar recordings I've done with them.

Comments about Sennheiser E606 Limited Edition Dynamic Guitar Microphone:

I have had this mic for about one month.
Tight pattern with very clear sound at high spl. Great right on the grill of guitar amp (as intended). Also good on snare bottom as it squeezes in that tight space nicely and rejects bleed from hats and bass drum.
Smaller than it looks in the photos.
Comes with European mic clip that has smaller threaded end ... does not fit standard mic stand ... I canabilized a $3 clip from GC to make it work.
I have both this mic and the SM-57 ... if priced the same I would go with the SM-57 because it's more versitale (I like it for live vocals). I got this as an alternative and at about 70% of what an SM-57 costs ... definitely worth it.

Comments about Sennheiser E606 Limited Edition Dynamic Guitar Microphone:

As a working club musician, I had two needs for a mic for guitar cabs: to mount as flush as possible (on a small stage, inches of space count a lot) and a large surface area, to capture as much of the sound as possible. This mic is both; even on a stand, it adds only the width of the stand base to the depth of the amp. And the element is easily more than double that of (for example) and SM57. Easy to control and EQ, too! However, it is good only for miking a cab or possibly a drum, so not as versatile as a 57.
