People who are saying that this is a better mic than a Shure SM58, or say that the SM58 is better than the e835 do not really know sound. Each mic has it's own characteristics. Personally, I sound better on an e835 while my buddy sounds much better on a SM58. The e835 sounds "crispier" than the 58. The 58 sounds much better on a snare drum, or any sound source with emphasized highs. It will smooth the sound. However, the e835 will sound better on a darker voice because of the bump in the high end. I've worked with both mics for a long time, and they're both great for different things. For a utility mic that does everything pretty well, I'll take the 58/57. For my voice and certain others, I'll take the e835. Know the source of your sound, and then make your decision.

After reading the many good reviews people had written, I had my hopes up when our church decided to purchase six 835s for our worship band. When they arrived I was extremely disappointed. Not only do you have to be practically eating the mic for it to pic up you're voice, the sound quality is straight up terrible and there is just way too much handling noise. Not even one of the six microphones is used anymore. I now use either a Shure Beta 58a or an EV 767 for live sets and am extremely pleased with both. If your just starting out and want some cheap microphones that will get the job done, these will do the trick. If you care at all about how you sound though, spend a few extra dollars and get a Shure or an Electro-Voice.

Comments about Sennheiser E835 Dynamic Microphone 3-Pack:

I've been using the Sennheiser E-Series from back since they made the "3's". I am < gasp> a karaoke host amongst other things and I have been using the E-310s (or was it E-315) since they came out. Different frequency response than am SM-58 or an AKG or an MXK ribbon or even an Astatic. For the purpose however I haven't found a better mic. I've done karaoke in the rain and weddings on the beach with them and they've been dropped on more surfaces than an OtterBox (tm) would handle and you can pick 'em up and keep singing and the audio guy (frequently me) won't have enough "pop" in the sound when it hits that it would damage even a cheap speaker. Low handling noise., A mic is a tool just like a screwdriver or ,more like a chef's knife.. If you know how to use one properly you can do great with almost whatever tool you have. If I'm doing a song in karaoke with three drunk chicks who can't sing towards the mic I'll use my SM-58s and try to avoid feedback and it'll sound pretty good. The AKGs are very crisp on the high end but they have lots of handling noise. The Astatic is a powered mic that will pick up an ant fart from 10 meters. The MXL is also a powered ribbon mic that has a very warm sound and a classic look (and is VERY crisp with all vocal frequencies that I have tried it with.)

Bottom line: For "general" use, I'll put the Sennheiser E-series against the Shure SM's for a variety of purposes. Those are the two best I've encountered for general "abuse it almost daily" use. Astatics are the next biggest bang for the buck (imho). However if you want to go top-notch and you'll never have to worry about using it on a beach or at a wedding reception then get something old-school.... the word "Blue" comes to mind... But I'd rate the whole Sennheiser E-series a 5/5 for general purpose indoor/outdoor use with high durability, frequency response, little-to-no handling noise,

    Rock on, mighty warriors!

        Great Stage Mic

        By Anonymous

        from Undisclosed

Comments about Sennheiser E835 Dynamic Microphone 3-Pack:

This mic is a winner in my stage arsenal. wonderful side/rear feeback rejection. geat for heavy metal "cup the mic" vocals. Does require a singer with good projection and mic use ( this mic you have to sing into it dead on; great for vocal mic use training too). nice highs , but sometimes gets shrill with some female singers, but easily fixed with outboard gear.

        Sennheiser OVER Shure

        By Tripp-LWJ8y

        from North Carolina

Comments about Sennheiser E835 Dynamic Microphone 3-Pack:

I used Shure SM58's and 57's for years, then I went through 2 sm58's having out of box failure's and 1 sm57 that crapped out two weeks after purchase. Each incident inevitably happened at the worst possible time. I have since migrated my entire bands collection from SM57's to the 835's and the sm57's to the 609's and have had ZERO problems with the Sennheiser products. Maybe the popularity of the Shures caused production to increase and QC to go down.I have been pleased with the mic's response and durability.

        VALUE

Comments about Sennheiser E835 Dynamic Microphone 3-Pack:

i currently have 15 of these things. yup, 15 of them. i wanted the same basic sound for every vocal, and then eq the vocal off the mixing board. these are consistant, built like trucks, SILENT. they just don't screw up. ever. i picked them out based on their freq response over SURE and others. best mic for the buck. period.

Comments about Sennheiser E835 Dynamic Microphone 3-Pack:

I have been using the e835's in my band for nearly 5 years. There isn't any feedback on the monitors and they sound great for the money. I own an e865 condenser mic also that sounds great. Sennheiser are great mics for the money!

Solid Product At A Decent Price

        By Tyronius Maximus

        from Philadelphia Area

Comments about Sennheiser E835 Dynamic Microphone 3-Pack:

I have used these Sennheisers for Dinner Functions and Church Services and I found them to be a pretty reliable mic. They are built to take a beating! The downside is that it isn't a great Vocal Mic. To me, the vocals sound a bit flat and unnatural, but it is decent enough to get by. The SM58's are better suited for live sound. They aren't bad mics for live instruments either.All-in-all, I would buy them and use them for applications where a good portion of the event is speech. They are pretty solid mics and they are well worth the price for the admission.
