Comments about Sennheiser E945 Supercardioid Dynamic Microphone:

I moved to this mic from a Beta 58. I noticed the immediate increase in punch and a richness in the tone that can't be found with the Beta 58. I work right on the screen and can feel as well as hear the difference with this mic. The mic is solid and well-made as one would expect from Sennheiser. I will be buying another for my wife to use in the near future.

Bought to replace a Shure SM 58 which has served me well for years. The Sennheiser E945 has better clarity and off axis rejection.

Comments about Sennheiser E945 Supercardioid Dynamic Microphone:

I purchased (3) e945 mics. They showed up just before band practice so we hooked them up and compared them against our existing Shure 57 & 58 mics. The Sennheiser mics were noticibly louder and clearer. We look forward to using them live, so we can verify the super-cardoid pickup pattern will help eliminate feedback on stage.

Comments about Sennheiser E945 Supercardioid Dynamic Microphone:

This is a great mic. I've owned and used a Shure Beta58 since the mid 90's and just recently decided to upgrade given the quality of some of the newer mics. After reading several reviews- I opted for the E945. I've always been a little dissapointed with the thin sound I get with the Beta58 compared to even some house mics I've used but this could mainly just be the difference between cardiod and supercardiod as cardiods tend to be "boomier" sounding to me. So, I started looking for something with more presence. I pluged the E945 in at rehearsal last night keeping all other sound system settings the same as always and the difference was obvious right away. I can hear myself better (not because of more volume but more presence) and the little inflections in my vocals come through much more clearly. I picked this mic partly because it is a supercardiod like the Beta that I've been used to for nearly 20 years. I don't have to change how I "work" the mic so my "on top of the mic" habits fit this mic well already. I did notice more pronounced "S" but not a lot of plosive. The brightness that is so nice also probably contributes to more pronounced "S" problem but that is a minor fix with vocal technique and/or a de-essing device. I ran this mic dry with no effects and it is very clean and clear. I didn't feel the need to "push" or exagerate to hear myself at any time. It really does help bring your vocals up front including subtleties that might otherwise get washed out. Admittedly, I didn't try any other mics and my Beta is an older model so it may be apples to oranges a little bit. I would like a little more low end deffinition but that may work out over time as I adust the sound system to fit the mic. I was a little surprised to get a lot of feedback as soon as I hooked it up. I never got that much feedback from the Beta which is also supercardiod. After reading about its superior feedback rejection- this was unexpected. However, after adjusting the position of the monitor a bit, I had no more problems. My first impression is that it is fantastic for clarity and definition. Careful with the "S" and mind your monitor positions for feedback. I'll keep the Beta as a backup.

It's true, this is a 5 star mic. I have always used the sm58 and wanted to treat myself and my solo show to the best mic I could find. I found it in the E945

Comments about Sennheiser E945 Supercardioid Dynamic Microphone:

The Sennheiser e945 is a dynamic vocal microphone, however it has the clarity of a condenser without the durability issues. I have owned and used this microphone for nearly three years without an issue (it has been dropped several times).

I have used the Shure SM58, Beta 58, SM57, Beta 57, Beta 87A, Heil PR22, PR35, Audix OM5, AKG D7, and the like, and this mic simply sounds more clear, cuts through the mix better, doesn't have a muddy or exaggerated proximity effect, rejects feedback better than all of those mics.

The only thing is that this mic is so clear sounding, that you might want to EQ out a little 3-4 KHz and maybe 500-800 Hz because it is designed to cut through the mix.

If you are a professional vocalist (or are working up to be), ignore the hype of other mics and go above and beyond the "industry standard".

Comments about Sennheiser E945 Supercardioid Dynamic Microphone:

I bought this mic to replace a Telefunken M-80 that I lost after a gig, and it turned out to be a happy accident, at least for vocal application. The e945 is obviously made for vocals, so that should be no surprise, but for the price it really does excel. It seems to respond much more to higher frequencies than other mics I've used, and while that's a good thing for vocals, it does cause a slight problem with piercing esses. In a studio you can use a de-esser to solve that, but when I play live I've found that I either need to use a narrow-band cut on the EQ (which not all mixers have), or use a windscreen (I do this all the time now, it works wonders). Minus the problem with esses, this is the best vocal mic I've owned so far!

With stunnining clarity and definition. Have had stunning results in the studio as well, all of my old SM-57's & 58's are now in my tool box for "backup" hammers.
