I bought this mic at a local music store because the drummer in my band kept on complaining that we all need our own equipment. So I bought it figuring ok I'll tape it up and a couple months out of it. But now I've had it for about 3 months and its still running strong, I sing through a samson s9 at my church and used to sing through a Sennheiser e825S when my band practiced. This mic sounds almost as good, obviously there are gonna be some things better about more expensive mics and now i wish i would have bought the pg-58 but oh well I got a nice mic for the price. Me and the ruthm guitarist in my band also do some acoustic stuff and I used this for my vocal and it sounded very proffesional, this is a highly recomened mic!

I bought 3 of these for use at an Open Mic night that I run. However, after 4 months all 3 three have crapped out. The worst part is that they only got used one night a week. Basically what it boils down to is each mic has less 60 hours on it and I'm already looking for replacements. Shure usually makes great stuff in the lower price range. These however, were very harsh sounding and no matter what I did just could not be very dialed in. Pass on these they're sub par at best.

Comments about Shure PG48-XLR Microphone with Switch:

I Have Been Using 4 Of These For A Couple Years Now An Average Of 80 Nights A Year At 4 Hours A Night And NO Foul Ups Yet... And Karaoke Singers Are The Worst For Damaging Mics!!!

I Like The Fact That Pressing On The Slide Switch Does Not Put Pressure Directly On The Electronics Causing Shorts, Other Brands This Is Not So And After A While Pressing On The Switch Causes The Mic To Cut Out, But Not With These!!!

I Have Had Them Dropped And Dented And I Simply Removed the Screen And Pressed The Screen Back Out... I Use Thick Color Coded Wind Screens, They A Good About Hiding Any Damage And Also Protecting Them From Drops...

If They Ever Die I Will Be Buying Them Again!!!

Comments about Shure PG48-XLR Microphone with Switch:

This mic works great, I use it for my guitarist to provide backing vocals, it works just as good as the pg58, but its way cheaper. It also works well for recording, I used it and my pg58 to record drums and the quality is almost professional, I highly recommend it!

          Great for A camp

          By

          from Twin Cities

Comments about Shure PG48-XLR Microphone with Switch:

Great mic overall, on/off switch can be an issue for some if it gets bumped or forgotten. Major improvemnet over the Fender mics that these were replacing even on the older sound rig..
The quality has been great have used 3 of them for 4 months straight with 2 hours a day of use and no issues. The most issue I had is people forgetting to turn the switch back on. These have been dropped sevral times and still work well.
Value has been great, 3 of them were bought for a camp to replace a mix of old off brand mics that were very damaged. After 4 months of use and abuse by camp counslers with little audio experiecne and not issues yet. Much more practical for a camp than SM58's for due to the price.

Comments about Shure PG48-XLR Microphone with Switch:

well dont expect a superb quality mic at this price range, its a elly good mic for vocals applications, drums and stuff like that, you cant compare it to a sm58 but its a bargain for the price, i use it as my talkback mic into my studio and orks nice with the switch, i have 2 mics and theyre great. i also have a sennheiser e 838 and its awesome for vocals, so if you want a nice sounding bullet proof mic this is it..even if it fails its only 40 bucks!

          Not the best deal

          By

          from Sioux Falls, SD

Comments about Shure PG48-XLR Microphone with Switch:

The drummer in my band has one of these. Its a decent backup vocal mic. One problem I have with it is that the shape of the barrel makes it prone to slipping out of the mic clip easily. Our bass player has a cheapo Nady SP4 that I think is just as good sounding, doesn't have the slippage problem and cost 1/4th the price.
