Shure

One of the world's most popular vocal mics.

The Shure SM58 mic is legendary for its uncanny ability to withstand abuse that would destroy any other microphone. The Shure SM58 has not only helped to define the sound of rock vocals on stage, it's also been used as a hammer to build stages and gone on to perform flawlessly later at the gig. Using a club's house system? You'll be singing through an SM58. And in the studio? Daniel Lanois always uses the SM58 or Beta 58 on Bono's vocals.

The Shure SM58 mic is world-renowned for its distinctive upper-midrange presence peak that ensures an intelligible, lively sound. Perfectly fits a performer's hand, balanced for total comfort during long gigs. Frequency response is a smooth, vocal-tailored 50Hz-15kHz, and the price is a bargain considering its life expectancy.

My SM58 is over 30 years old and been through all those years of working abuse and still works great! I needed another mic, so of course, I got another SM58. Looks great, sounds great and I am sure (SHURE) it's going to last a long, long time!

I bought one of these SM 58 microphones, even though I don?t think they sound near as good as an EV N/D767a, Audix OM5 or even a Shure Beta 58a. I bought the SM58 because I?m sick and tired of getting flack from sound guys at a gig when I tell them I want to use my own microphone. I don?t like putting my mouth on a microphone that may have been used by someone that was sick with a cold or something. Anyway, I think all these sound guys are really used to the SM58 and have become too lazy to re-adust the settings on their sound board. It would just be sooooooooo much more work for them if they had tweak a knob. Poor guys. Because they are lazy, I had to buy a SM58. A microphone that sounds like a blanket is over it. The SM58 is way overrated. I don?t care how legendary it is considered. It does not sound as good as other microphones. Take your best microphone and put a heavy beach towel over it, if you want it to sound like an SM58.

      Comments about Shure SM58 Mic:

Still the best microphone out there. Used it in my younger days in bands and using it now in my older days in a band. One thing, you must re-eq it, do not use the EQ from your previous mic. This way you get the best of your SM58. Still the best!

It doesn't get better than this for a vocal mic. It is hands down the cleanest, crispest sounding mic you're likely to find out there. Not only that, it's super affordable, a must have for every musician.

                  Comments about Shure SM58 Mic:

I've been using this mic for 7 1/2 years when i first bought it was for a talent show they used cheap Peavey mics with to bright of a sound(not very good) so i picked this up at this time i had a 4 octave range and like many singers at age 17 with a range like that i was cocky as well you can imagine, it hit everything and i was in the top 5 of 20 performances.

I used it as a hammer not thinking because a nail was sticking out of the stage before we opened, plugged it in, and it worked the sound engineers about "DROPPED" bricks. now all these years later I've gone solo and i'm using this as a studio mic, i only use it for vocals and after all it's abuse it's done better than three separate condensers, now realize a lot of low end condensers cannot pick up high frequency, i'm down to a 3 octave range now, G2-G5 and even in the high parts it's crystal clear, i run a busy studio but it's amazing for male-female, weak-strong, any style vocals, i did metal screams sound amazing, i've done classical, amazing still, played for a band with a 15 year old female singer amazing, recorded a 50 year old very raspy singer, did amazing, there is no better Mic than this for the price.

I'd buy hundreds, but one of these things will last as long as you will,

Currently running it through a Peavey PV6 mixer into my laptop with Magix 16, and like earlier stated, better than the Condensers I've used.
