Overall little guy is a great instrument. For the price its a pretty good deal for the amature or guy who doesn't care about the looks. the sound is amazing for the price of the uke. Great tone and resonance, the sestain is a little wanting but with such small strings and body who could blame it. the only think holding this uke back is it's size and shape. I would say this is a really good instrument though. Play it right and it will serve you well. *wink* *wink*
Features. It's not a bad little ax. The volume is hard to gauge because of the way Applause works but I've played in some pretty packed rooms and every one could hear it so I assume it's pretty loud. The strings it comes with aren't half bad too, you could get new strings for it but I would wait for them to wear out and same some money. The body is unusually small and so is the neck. Not 'full' full sized; on the tiny side of things and the rounded body can be a little awkward to play; as long as you're sitting you should have no trouble playing it. Tuning is super easy; the gears hold. I've been able to tune the uke, play it hard for an hour, and still be in tune.
Worth the money. Not an amazing traditional uke but really nice sound for the price and concidering it's not a traditional bodied instrument. It sure as hell isn't a toy. Great sound on this little guy. People have come up to me after a show and told me it sounds like an angelic harp, just goes to show this is a serious instrument if you play it right.
Not a bad value for the instrument. It's not a toy and it can be a serious instrument if you can play it. It can handle a lot of differnt styles, I've plucked and strummed and it sounds good both ways. The only draw back is it's size. It's a bit on the small size of the uke scale. Ukuleles are small yes, but this is the runt of the litter. Plus it doesn't look traditional so if you really want the look I would go with something else. Plus if you have big hands, maybe not the best for you; the frets are closer than normal ukes. Don't get me wrong, it's nor a child's uke, but it's not a big burly man hand uke either.

Solid Top = Sweet Tone and Exceptional Value

Comments about Applause UA10 Standard Ukulele:

Like most serious uke enthusiasts, I own a quivver of the addictive little things...acoustic, acoustic-electric, and electric...ranging from a dirt-cheap plywood beater to a solid wood art object. With the exception of the overachieving Applause UA-10...my most recent acoustic acquisition...I pretty much got what I paid for each step of the way. The UA-10 is an unusual and outstanding value because it has a solid spruce top in a price range where plywood is the rule. Yes, it also has an innovative fiberglass body, a fast neck, and high quality tuners...but it's the solid top that really matters. The UA-10's sound is virtually indistinguishable from the sound of my most expensive instrument...full, mournfully-resonant, and articulate. Based upon my experience with the UA-10, I wouldn't buy the "art object" if I had it to do over again. If you want the best acoustic uke sound-per-dollar value on the current market, the UA-10 is your ride.

Wonderful Uke!

Comments about Applause UA10 Standard Ukulele:

This is my first ukulele. I have been so surprised at this little instrument! The factory strings it came with gave me a good couple of days of learning how to tune. But, I bought new strings and it stays in tune wonderfully. It plays clear as a bell and has a great sound. I would recommend this instrument to anyone wanting a ukulele!

Comments about Applause UA10 Standard Ukulele:

My UA10 arrived a couple days ago, and after looking over a ukulele chord chart, I was able to start playing great sounding music surprisingly quickly. I have never been more happy with an instrument purchase as I am about this little gem. The uke is very solidly built and produces very nice tones. I would recommend any beginning ukulele player buy the Applause UA10, you won't be disappointed.

Wonderful Uke!

By Yellowstonetodd

Comments about Applause UA10 Standard Ukulele:

I've played guitar for over thirty years and this is my first Ukelele. I am so satisfied, the overall look and feel is understanded with clean classic lines. The sound and action are fine. I've looked around town at other Ukes, some over twice the price and they don't compare with the quality of workmanship, sound and feel. This is just a wonderful instrument, not a toy, the real deal!!

Comments about Applause UA10 Standard Ukulele:

This is my second uke to own, and so far I LOVE it. This is a perfect instrument for beginner to intermediate ukulele players, and I highly recommend it. The strings take a few days to stretch out and stay in tune, but other than that, it's perfect. It sounds great, it looks great...it's just awesome.

Best. Uke. Ever.

By Aelleo Oellea

Comments about Applause UA10 Standard Ukulele:

Play this Ukulele and the women will swoon. It's beautiful. The all-wood spruce top is awesome, mostly you only get plywood for a ukulele in this price range. You can tell the difference in the sound. It is very well made and you'll be glad you bought it. Unless you are a beginner and just looking for a very cheap ukulele in the $30 price range, I would recommend you buy this ukulele. Awesome full, melodic, acoustic sound. All you need now is sand and surf.

Great Uke

Comments about Applause UA10 Standard Ukulele:

I just got this ukulele, and I have to say it was a great buy. The rounded plastic back gives it a louder, brighter sound with more sustain than a uke of a lesser value. It stays in tune fine (I love the red tuners) and this stock strings are nice.Besides a couple glue marks around the frets and a invisible rough patch on the top, its a great instrument. I'll be toting this guy around for a long time!
