Comments about Dean Bluegrass F Mandolin:
I was glad that it was not purple as it looks on the picture. The tone is excellent and the tuner knobs stay in place. I rarely have to tune it back up.
Comments about Dean Bluegrass F Mandolin:
The Dean is good in all respects, except the top is veneer, not solid. Consequently, it has a tone a little too bright. It's loud, though. The fingerboard is very good, and fit and finish are fine. Comes with a great case. It stays in tune well. I find it works best with heavy strings- I'm using the Bill Monroe Gibsons. If you can, though, find a mandolin with a solid wood top.
Comments about Dean Bluegrass F Mandolin:
I purchased one and the top is collasping under the tension of the strings across the bridge so that between the 'F' holes the top is concave.
Comments about Dean Bluegrass F Mandolin:
Tuners are cheesy at best. Replaced them within weeks of buying instrument.
Comments about Dean Bluegrass F Mandolin:
Replaced tuners and tailpiece (Allen), had professional set up, and it it really starting to open up after 8 months. Tone is not like a 5k Gibson, but is decent.I use it for travel, attending festivals/campfire picking.
Comments about Dean Bluegrass F Mandolin:
I bought an A model that sounds and plays better than this one. The A Style I bought came with a gig bag and two books. I have owned this Dean Bluegrass F-style for about four months and it's not a bad player, it sounds alright - but when I bought the A-Style, as mentioned before, for friends to play when they visited I was very surprised at how it played and sounded better.
Comments about Dean Bluegrass F Mandolin:
Good sweet tone, easy playing, but I have seen the top cave-in on this mandolin.
