OVERVIEW

A traditionally styled 5-string banjo with a bright tone.

The 5-string Dean Backwoods BW5 Banjo offers traditional construction and materials such as a 25-5/16" scale mahogany neck, a mahogany rim, and a mahogany resonator. The 22-fret rosewood fingerboard has heart shaped position markers and the metal armrest is decoratively engraved. Planet banjo tuners keep all 5 strings in perfect tune.

Constructed with attention to detail the Dean Backwoods Series is a notably solid line of banjos with very appealing prices. Reminiscent of their forefathers from the 30's, the Backwoods banjos present a bright tone with a traditional look.

Case sold separately.

Comments about Dean BW5 Backwoods 5-String Banjo:

I have had this banjo for two weeks and it is holding up well , although I did have to tighten a few things up that is typical when buying some items pertaining to music , tuners work great , sound is good even without a tone ring . if you don't know anything about setting up a banjo I do recommend getting a pro or some friend that knows something about one to help you with checking it and setting it up . so far a great product for the money.

Comments about Dean BW5 Backwoods 5-String Banjo:

I have owned several fine guitars and this Dean Banjo compares favorably in quality. Overall, the workmanship is very nice with beautiful wood, a nice fretboard and great action. This is a very playable instrument. The only minor improvement I suggest is the strap holders which are thin wire and easily bend off their mounts. Instead of using them, I attach the strap to the pan with leather laces. The description is right about the bright sound. My instuctor, who's been playing many years, told me this was the nicest mid-range banjo he's ever seen. This is a great deal.

Comments about Dean BW5 Backwoods 5-String Banjo:

This Dean BW5 Banjo meets all my expectations plus! It is well built, beautiful to look at and sounds like a banjo. Loud and clear! What else can you expect for such a reasonable price. My friends with very expensive banjo's are also impressed. I will proudly play and display it anywhere.

Comments about Dean BW5 Backwoods 5-String Banjo:

This banjo was beautiful. I do not belive there is another manufacturer out there that has all the features of this instrument at the price. Setup was fairly easy. I did have to tighten the pot, but the neck, nut and bridge required no adjustments for me. I had to use other sources than the included documentation to place the bridge and to adjust the tightness of the pot as the documentation that came with it was very generic.

Once done, I tuned it up and started playing and was amazed at the brightness and sweetness as I moved up to the neck. It is naturaly loud and clean. I would have had to spend alot more to get a top brand banjo of this quality.
