Dean Chrome S Resonator Guitar

I am very happy with this resonator. It is more of a pickin' mans dobro as opposed to pure slide. It has a sweet neck and great tone. Sucker is heavy though. Should state what strings it ships with (I suspect the Martin M980 Resonators but can't prove it).

Not bad for the money

Beautiful guitar. Extremely heavy, not something you want to wield around. Tone is good. Action is good and, like always, experiment with the string gauges to get desired sound. Construction is good and have not had any problems with it in the year I have had it.

For what it's worth

Love the smooth action this, "allmost electric feeling", neck delivers. Fret work is excellent and tuners are matched in quality to this fine shiney dog. I rarely have to retune a string once its up to pitch. I play in standard and open G and E tuning. Elixir 10's, Nanoweb, have been the main voice's for over 6 month's now and have lived up to their claim of longjevity and endurance. Lots of tone left still. I prefer to sit when playing this baby however, gives me better overal control of the weight factor. I've removed the cone cover and find that I get a much better tonal response playing without it. Playing close or allmost on top of the neck gives me some reall sweet singing tones and picking tight, near the bridge, sharpens and defines all single bend/pulled/squeesed/slide and picked notes more so. I get a kick out of seeing peoples faces when I open the case and strap this bad boy on. I hear em talking and I just smile and say to myself, "Fingers its time to start walking and put an end to pointless talking",. I mean to say, no it isn't the latest in art deco barbeque styles, and yea, it'll hold about 3 lbs of coal on a good day. Did someone mention cooking time?

I have had my Dean chrome resonator for almost 2 years, and everywhere it goes, people always ask "What kind is your resonator" I had a pickup installed with the out port on a 30 deg. away from the strap bottom hole,"It stays out of the way when sitting" the tuning always stays tight and even the high tunings (open C ) it is greatI have played high end National's/ Dobro's and I wouldn't change.. I guess my purist level isn't high enough. A great product, and I am 100% happy with this purchase.
