Comments about Dean Ukulele ML:

This is an awesome little uke. Dean makes great guitars and this little uke ML is no exception. It has great sound but it does require tuning after every jam session, so invest in a chromatic tuner. The strings that came with it seem fine and it also has it's own gig bag. It's a little awkward to play due to its unique shape but you can work with it.

A good uke spoiled by a bad setup.

By DannyC

from Seattle, WA

Comments about Dean Ukulele ML:

Looks great, good strings (Aquila), good tuners, decent sound. Over all a very cool uke at a great price. Unfortunately the bridge saddle is way to too high, making the action (the space between the strings and the fretboard) too high also, which makes the uke very difficult to play. This can be fixed by having a luthier shave down the bridge saddle, but the cost of having that done is probably more than the cost of the uke itself. I may try to shave down the bridge saddle myself (which is a major hassle). It is unfortunate that what could have been a great uke (and a great unboxing experience) was ruined by such a dumb faux pas.

    Comments about Dean Ukulele ML:

Bought this as a gift, mostly cuz it's funny looking and will be cute to see my niece playing it. But pleasantly surprised with the quality of the workmanship - the body is well made and seems solid, the neck is well done and the frets are nice and the fret edges are smooth for her little hands. Best of all, these tuners are great - better than what normally comes on a ukulele, and more like what you'd get on a real guitar.

My husband plays bass, collects bass guitars & guitars. Expressed interest in learning uke. It is a Dean & looks cool even if he never learns. Feels cheap even though it's a Dean.

        Comments about Dean Ukulele ML:

Bought the Dean Uke recently primarily because of the look. When I got it I found that it really has a good tone, plays well and is well constructed. For a pretty inexpensive instrument I'm really happy with it.

        Comments about Dean Ukulele ML:

This uke looks cool. There's no way around that. If you were a fan of 80's hair bands, then you know what I mean. The Uke arrived in good condition and in a timely fashion. Tune it right away and started playing. The tone is good. It's quieter than my other concert uke, but slightly louder than my soprano uke. I have a difficult time playing this uke while standing up. I'm used to holding the uke with my strumming arm pressing the uke against my body. When I do that with this uke, the bottom of the uke tilts upward. It's because there is no uke where I normally hold the uke - right between the V.

It looks great on my wall next to my other ukes, and I can play it sitting down without much problem. I'll use it as a backup uke and to show off the really cool style, but that's about it. I'm glad I didn't spend the extra $$ to buy the black one.
