1896 Marine Band Low E

This harp is attractive, sounds very good and is easy to play, but I was dismayed to find you cannot take it apart to clean it, tune it, or fix a bent reed. The cover and reed plates are nailed together rather than screwed together. A reed broke on me after just two or three months of casual use. Still, I liked it very much and the price is good.

Hohner Marine Band

By J.T.

from Seguin, Texas

I had this same harmonica when I was a boy. Took it with me everywhere I went. Did a dumb thing one day and sold it in a pawn shop when I was about 13 or 14 years old. I paid $5 for it new and got my $5 back when I sold it, but was sorry afterward. It was the best little harmonica for the money. Wish I had it now. That one was made of wood back around 1968. I'm going to get me another one now that I've seen this web page.
