This harmonica is a classic. It has been around forever, with very few changes. I have a new one, and one from the 30's. They both sound and play the same. You can buy one harmonica (any key will do, with "C" being the most practical) and play in any key, as all notes are available, you just have to learn your scales. The quality is superb, and so is the sound and ease of playing. If you want to find fault with it, you can find it in its old-school design. The comb is wood, requiring proper care. The reed plates are nailed to the comb (screws make more sense). There are windsaver valves, a necessary evil that eventually requires replacement. A thorough cleaning is not possible without major surgery. But all that taken into account, I really wouldn't change a thing. You can buy more modern designs, but I have been playing the old design since I was a child. It works for me...

I got my first 270 30 years ago and yes it still works but is retired from stage use.Heres the thing, this instrument was the one I learned to tongue block on. i also learned 3rd. position for blues and later picked up jazz and bebop. i credit this beauty for the ease it gave in learning all things chromatic. You don't have to spend a fortune on a chromatic, this baby can do it all.
