I have used this harmonica as a give- away to charities. I offer 4 lessons and this cheap little harmonica at charitable silent auctions, usually taking 3 to 4 learners at a crack.
weight of the harp and the chrome is very good. Reeds won't last long, and it's not as airtight as a more expensive harp. But it is a playable harmonica.
What do you expect?? It's a good solid harmonica for the money.
Good enough to learn on.
Cheap, but I don't think you'll find anything better in this price range.

The Chinese made Hohner Bluesband is only good for two things: to buy in bulk to give them away, or for a complete beginner who is not sure if they will stick with the harmonica and don't want to spend more cash.If you want a low priced Chinese made Hohner, I suggest you spend a couple dollars more and get the Old Standby, as it seems to be the best quality for the Chinese line, and it has a louder and fuller sound. Don't get the Chinese made Blues Bender (a different model than the Bluesband), as it is way overpriced for a Chinese made harp, and the quality is no better than the Old Standby.

Comments about Hohner Blues Band Harmonica 1501:

I bought one in the key of G and about 3 of the notes are sharp, including the low G. I called the Honer customer service and they said they would send me an email and I could go thru a process and they'd send me another. I haven't seen the email yet…
Also, some holes seem to get clogged and won't play at all for a while.

Comments about Hohner Blues Band Harmonica 1501:

I have had one of these Blues Band harmonicas before that lasted quite awhile, combine that with the cost and decent sound and it is perfect for a person who just needs the basics like me.
I use it to accompany my acoustic guitar and it has a nice tone and volume.
      Would definitely recommend.

Made this selection as a 1st harmonica for a grandchild. He liked a toy he had and said he needed one like Grandpa's. So the Blues Band harmonica was a good price to get him started.

Purchased these as a teaching tool for a 7th grade music class. They are great for what they are, a cheap starter instrument. They are definitely not performance quality, but you wouldn't expect that for the price. The kids are loving them and having a blast learning how to play them.
